Post subject: | European Single Trip Breakdown Cover |
Evening, I'm taking the XB12 to europe next month with a friend on his bike. I am worried about breaking down and being stranded 1,000 miles from home. I have never bothered with breakdown cover in my life and I am shocked at being quoted around £100 for 12 days cover in Europe. I haven't owned my XB12 long and although I have partially restored it and replaced many consumable parts I don't know how reliable it will be. Has anyone had experience of european breakdown cover they can share? Cheers, Ted |

I've used these guys for the past few years: http://www.vehicle-rescue.com I've never had to use them though so can't comment on the service. I'm sure the insurance comparison sites can give you some alternatives. |

Read the small print cos if the bike is worth less than the cost of recovery, you may have problems. One guy here had that issue travelling in Norway. In the end I sent some injectors to a mechanic local to the breakdown and he was able to get the bike home. |

Taking a spare belt/tyre plugs and a few key tools makes me feel far more comfortable than any kind of insurance would. |

The belt is brand new with FS belt tensioner added. I will take a chance on that ![]() I'm sure the XB12 won't let me down ![]() |

I tried to get cover for the X1 on our European 2.5k jaunt but no one would touch it. When it did break down, turns out the cover I had from my bank account covered it. Go figure ![]() Worth checking maybe? When Le AA turned up, it started and ran fine after an hour of waiting. The rest is history ![]() |
