If a Buell is a mis match of AF and metric what's a Harley, I know your all gonna say a Harley's shite :shut: but that's not what I am asking.
Is a Harley also a mismatch of AF and metric or is it just AF including cycle parts

America, being a totally archaic and introspective country exist in an antique imperial bubble. If they are even aware that the civilised world has 'gone metric', they are in denial of its advantages.
Until, that is, someone (in this case, one Mr Erik Buell) is open minded enough to look up and see that actually there are other countries out there that make stuff and some of their suspension and braking gear is better than ours. He wants his bikes to handle and stop better than HDs ever have, hence the Showa suspenders and Nissin brakes.
I know nothing about the V-Rod except that Porsche were involved with the engine, so I'd imagine that to be metric and the cycle parts still imperial.
Makes me wonder what NASA used on the Space Station and Shuttle... lOl

Pedantic hat on.....AF actually stands for either 'across flats' or 'American fine' ie. a metric fastener could be, say, 13mm AF :)

1125's are all metric :?

So the question should have been imperial or metric

And I think I'm right in saying that Harley-Davidson have been using Showa suspension for years and many current bikes run Brembo brakes ;)

Metric was only invented for people that couldn't count past ten ;)

It's BA (British Association) commonly used on electrical things, that throws a spanner in the works. Invented in the UK but based on a Johnny Foreigner metric thread form.

So I take it a 2010 sportster will largely be IMPERIAL with the exception of the suspension and brakes :ill:

Thank you all for your input :4roz:

And then for pipes we have BSP and gas meters the 5 lite to 100 lite, which adds more confusion.

Not sure I understand :oooops:

Even though it's expressed as a decimal rather than a fraction, 20 thou is still an imperial measurement....same as half a metre is still metric.....isn't it? :coat:

We use decimal ft tape measures for measuring casing, e.g 10ft 6" reads as 10.5 ft :P

What I probably should've said: "And inch measurements can be decimal" (as opposed to fractional) :oooops:

Equivalents or conversions should not be encouraged in Buell world......I'm sick to death of having to work with butchered fasteners due to cabbages using metric tools
