I have taken my down pipes off, have done the initial clean with "Wonder wheels" (Thanks Ash).

There is still blemishing in areas. Is it worth rubbing down with abrasive papers, reducing coarseness as I go to try to get a smooth and clean all over surface or will the blemishes just come back?

2000 grit paper and water, then Autosol and good old elbow grease will do it. Mirror finish on mine. Anythin else is a waste of time !! :old:

Don't frig about doing it by hand, buy a cheapo bench grinder - the more powerful the better. Get a couple of 'pig tails', 1 stitched mop, 1 loose mop and a couple of bars of polishing soap. Use Autosol or toothpaste for the final cut.
It'll take you 1/10th the time hand polishing does, and you'll have the kit for other stuff - like getting a scalpel like blade on your gutting knife lOl

Maz knows a guy who did mine, awesome job 2 years and some long tours in filthy weather and they are still great :worthy: .....think it only cost £50 wipe down with polish twice a year and a regular wash is all the maintenance they need. I hate polishing :(

I have 2 bench grinders, I need to buy some polishing mops now. Oh and make a new shelf to sit my soon to be polishing station on.

Cheers all.
