Anybody know what seat section parts of a Uly are the same as the lightning long ? The undertray looks similar, but not the same to me. Plus other part may be interchangeable.

I could really do with a link to, or a scan of, the relevant pages from the parts manuals.

I am also wondering if the seat locking brackets/mechanism/cable are the same across other models as I have a cable and seat lock somewhere (and another on the CR) ...

Had a small windfall recently, and would like to put a different rear end on my CR. So I want to be able to price up parts to see if I can afford to do it especially as there will also be some fabrication to be done.

I like the practicality of a Uly rear end, but prefer the looks of an Ss ...

Has nappy changing given you the impetus?

Tony, I'm glad to be back at work - I really need the rest ...

I've always wanted to change the seat bodywork on both my 1125s to give them a bit more individuality. I'm hoping that once EBR start selling bikes to the masses that I can get the seat unit parts (if they are similar to the RS) to spruce up the 1125R as well.

Nick, thanks very much for those, but I have found something even better, you may want to add this to the manuals thread. Although it's a Russian site the parts manuals are in English, ordered by year -

http://parts.drivebike.ru/fiche/browse/ ... owsetype=1

and they have other makes as well as Buell -

So, does anybody know if the XB Lightning tail centre part (the bit that holds the rear light) will fit Ulysses seat rails ?

I have put a wanted up to either buy or borrow the piece to find out - once I locate some frame rails !
Thought that I would look for Uly rails as it should be more common than an SS or STT.

I am assuming that an SS/STT seat will fit this combo - the Uly seat is a lot wider at the back as it's squared off and not tapered.

Not too bothered about the undertray as I'm going to have to fabricate something up presumably.

The standard s rails look to be exactly the same casting as the Ully side rails, as you'll see from the attached photo the S has been machined where the pillion footrest mounts and the Ully has two holes drilled where the triple tail part bolts in, all the lugs etc are the same.

Yes, very interesting ! 8-)

Now all I need to do is find the parts ...

... I have a few ideas about adapter brackets, may have to make some wooden templates and give it a go.

So the parts hunt begins. :D

Are the mounting holes on the frame in the right position?

You could also consider something like sillyb had fabricated for his X1...

This has been done before by a guy on badweather bikers I think. Maybe worth going on there too and sticking a thread on there. Was loads of pic's on there

this is for XB, no idea if it will take all 1125 stuff located in the subtray.

the typhon tailframe looks quite similar

The mounting points are in different positions on the 1125 frame compared to XBs, so adapters are required.

I am aware that it has been done before, but I've always been a little concerned about the strength of some of the adaptations that I've seen.

Kev, are the S and Uly side rails the same length ? I thought that the Uly ones are longer, but it's not clear in the photo.

Gunter, I have been waiting for the side plates for the Typhon bodywork to become available for more than a year now, not sure that they will ever get to market.

exactly the same length mate ;) so either could be used with only minor mods for tail and or pillion footrests.
