They are bothered.

They relieved me of £30 for having a small plate.

i think it was on here that i read its not the plate size as long as the numbers are the legal height and the legal distance from the edge of the plate and each other?

Yes they are still bothered. Me and Scottie were relieved of £30 for illegal size, spacing, type, and me for having my own logo. The coppers were embarrassed at having to carry out the governments nefarious bidding, and explained that it was all in order to facilitate easier camera recognition. And its nothing personal, whilst we were getting our tickets they were pulling in cars as well.

Went to a BikeSafe police thing (in strathclyde region) and the cops said they aren't fussed about loud cans or dark visors providing you arne't taking the p*ss.

However they will pull you for an illegal plate - no arguments.

IME, they go after those taking the piss with their plate sizes. My text is a little smaller than stock, not hugely different, barely enough to notice but, with a suitably down-sized plate, it means that it fits into the width of the number plate holder rather than acting as a lift-generating rear wing.

It wouldn't pass the ruler-test, obviously, but I've had no problems in nearly 10 years with that size and, as PP says, if I get stopped and charged the £30 vanity-tax, I'll suck it up.

I'll suck it up too and that goes for the pipe as well. It's when the :tosser: tell you they've stopped you for a 'Safety check' it gets up my nose. They could at least be honest about what they're doing
When I got pulled for a dark visor (low+blinding) evening sun, the copper asked me why I'd got it and I told him I wasn't prepared to compromise my safety and he let it pass. Surely the prick could have worked that out for himself
