Her in doors objected in forthright terms to me bidding on superb xbr recently on eeeeebay. So after a period of sulkin I,ve decided to spend some brass on my x1 instead. To that end twin headlights & screen have been ordered, now what about new bars & levers. Could anyone recommend what size/style Renthal bars fit x1 without touching tank cover.? Also considering twin discs,___what is best way to go?

Maz----Your thoughts on the bars & discs??

Why do you want to change the bars? To go lower?

Any 7/8 bar will fit but you need to drill holes in them for the switchgear or file the pip off. If you want lower get yourself some XB12S bars. Higher? Get some Uly bars. More relaxed shape? M2 bars...

Twin discs? Do a search cos there has been plenty of discussion on that recently.

The X1 is the best out of the crate bike I've ever had the pleasure of owning, it looks superb with it's single headlight, the brakes are more than adequate, the riding position is superb.
I lent my bike to numerous racers to try and they were all mightily impressed with it......

Leave it alone, please......... ;)

I have zero interest in cosmetic shite......and do you REALLY need more brakes ?

Just spend your dosh on fuel

Renthal Ultra lows work well, but mark the pips in the switchgear with Tippex when they're in the correct position and clear the tank. Then drill them.
This gives you a comfy position out of the wind a bit more.
Get a Prolite disc off Maz along with good pads and the brake is excellent. An excellent combination with the much weaker than normal rear brake, just like Erik meant it to be :yup: The best balanced braking system I've had on any bike 8-) - and that includes a bike with Brembo monoblocs :D

Thanks for advice folks. I dont know how good front brake should be, but mines what I would describe as just adequate. It is nowhere near as good. as twin radial brembos on the speed triple or Ducati. New ebc recommended pads now fitted,& fluid changed. This may improve matters, but will have to bed in for few hundred miles to find out.
