Rode to Welshpool doing normal speeds and gettin mithered by johhny come lately pram drivers. Had a pint and a fag. Hit some B and less roads - 1st and 2nd gear thro the slime. Had a pee in Bala (gettin on a bit doncha know). Hit dual carriageway and M56 doin 100 mph - rolled off for the odd box gettin in the way and then wound it back up again. Rolled out at Daresbury (Plug a bit stinky by then). Rolled thro town and out the other side, 120 down Sankey way. Pulled up, fag and a cup o char and thought, hell yeah, this is why I ride bikes You tell me, where can you find a machine that will bump through horseshit alley one minute and then pull a three figure blast the next. All with no fuss or bother. Buells kick ass - why do you ride yours?

I got into Buells after riding pre evo harleys , got stalled of the mediocre handling , crap brakes, and fettling, but loved the engine's . Wanted the raw sound and feel only that type of engine has with handling , braking and increased reliability. Had a test ride on a Cyclone,when they were new, at Eddy's in Leeds, and thought YES . Needless to say i bought an X1 out of MCN and still have it over 11 years later.

All that makes perfect sense (one or two of my mates might question the relaibility bit ) but I know exactly what you mean.
Apologies for the bullshit tone of my post by the way. Got home from the pub and really had to something to say (you know, 'you are my best mate' etc) You'd think I would've learned by now
So, details aside (would normally be more discreet), I stand by the sentiment.
When HD pulled the plug, I considered changing my ride but everything else seems like a compromise. Mass centralisation is masterpiece of economy of design. It works and you just don't see that anywhere else. On top of that, they look dammned good.
Summary - I may appear to be full of it - but Buells are brilliant

By any standard, the X1 is classic material. Keep hold of it and it will be worth a fortune in the long run. In the meantime you get to play on it. Lucky bugger

I love my bike...and even planned on getting out and riding it today even though the forecast was fairly shite. Takes a lot to deter me when I am determined to ride.

After getting kitted up, unlocking and locking/bolting 3 or 4 doors gates, etc. I got my bike out down a narrow rough path behind our house and onto the road, I realised, once I was on the road, that something was definitely not right with the bike. Difficulty in steering etc. pulled up outside our house, and got the foot pump out (first guess was to check tyre pressures). Front tyre was 15psi Then I noticed the bloody screw smack bang in the middle of the tyre...

After having a minor tantrum, I rang Kev, said I wouldn't be able to meet up with him after all, and carefully manouvred my bike back up the road, down the narrow alleyway and back into the garage. I guess I will be taking the wheel off and getting it up to our local tyre fitter in the hope that they can plug it as opposed to having to replace it....

No ride for me today...

I spent my day recovering from last night's hangover and retracting early morning pc rants. Wasted day. Truth is I'm on pc now as an alternative to the pile of washing up behind me.

Since I moved to Portugal my Ulysses has been relegated to 2nd bike behind a Suzuki B-King BUT I miss the Uly and can't wait to get it legalised on Portuguese plates and back on the road. It's a cliche but there really is nothing like a Buell. The King is fantastic, obviously really reliable and really sophisticated feeling, but it's 42 kg heavier (dry weight) and while it handles, it's nothing like the Buell. I can't make my mind up which bike is more attractive to look at though.

Thanks for that Spen. Most who know me will understand when I say it would be pointless me buying one of those kits however good they are, as I am incompetent. I depend on others to help me technical-wise. The wheel will come off, thanks to my husband, and it will be fixed, thanks to the local tyre fitter who is Buell savvy.

I just ride my bike and enjoy every second of it......can't think of another bike I would like to ride....other than my other Buell (which unfortunately had a flat battery today....yeah, yeah, I know, I should have kept it charged....my bad!!!)

Rode up to the NEC for the Bike Show on the Uly today (Good to meet up with you, Pash and Cooter) What an awesome bit of kit, does everything I want of it and includes handguards and heated grips to keep me comfortable. Good mix of dry roads and floods and it took everything in it's stride. As it was dark and drizzly I opted for the M42 and M40 on the way home and it dealt perfectly with white lining through 15 miles of stationary traffic as well without having to put a foot down once. So glad I didn't go in the van

And please don't plug your tyre, Jill. The link Spen posted shows the kit as suitable for off road vehicles only and there is a reason for that By all means use one to get you home but other than that it's new tyre every time. Just not worth taking the chance

Anyway took the wheel to Newtown Tyre Centre
Ten pounds later i'm a happy bunny.
Tested it next day job was a good un.


I love my Buell best thing since sliced bread.
Everyday is Christmas when i'm riding my Buell.
