Didn't check it o Snetterton track, but filled up near Huntingdon, came home and put in 11 litres. Mileage on that tank was 149 ( heavily into reserve level by then).
So that's 2.42 gallons then... Equals 61 mpg?
Running on duals and motorways , very little town l and 85-90 mph wherever possible.
If so, I'm a vey happy new owner :?

I commute 50m round trips from Surrey toLondon (M3, A316, then London traffic) and I get about 130m to reserve.

The C90 is more popular than I ever thought.
How in the fuck can anyone get that kind of MPG?

Apologies in advance - I'm a bit of a mpg geek! :oooops:

With all bikes, it's inaccurate to use the 'mileage to reserve light' to compare fuel consumption. This is because one rider's idea of filling to the brim can be quite different from another and affected by simple things as the way the bike leans on the sidestand due to suspension changes. There are also the differences in manufacturing and assembly tolerances that would affect the exact position of the float within the tank at the point when the light comes on. the overall difference can easily be half a gallon.

Anyway, I'll cut to the chase before you all fall asleep... :tw:

Sensible riding (maybe 10mph over the limit on occasions) with a wee bit of hooning around;
Last fill up on my 06 Uly: 60mpg :ner:
Previous: 59mpg on the Uly and my partner's 08 SCG at 58mpg :4roz:

That low-tech Sportster lump sure does shame many a modern 1,200 in this respect :yup: .

Jon

When I still had the S3 - it returned 56-57mpg almost constantly independently of how it was ridden. Mostly illegally fast. And not only in 5th. It's one of the things I actually miss.

Yes it can! :D

The XB motor is predisposed to be very frugal if ridden smoothly or not thrashed. On a group ride with friends recently I netted 65.7mpg on my '9'.
Reliable figures can easily be checked by clocking exact mileage at every fuel stop and filling to edge of filler neck. ;)

Of course my low consumption was only due to the relaxed ride back.
I'd just that day finished a 2 day track-day at Snetterton so had done with the hooning for the time being.

of course being a flyweight dwarf
or a huge barndoor airbrake
may effect your drag & fuel consumption too... ;) :run:
