Its decision time!

Much as I love my uly, I have recently been hankering after a little bit 'more'. :)

More grunt and a bit more noise is the mission for this year. With this in mind I have been looking about at other options. A mate has a rocket3, and while it certainly has the grunt, Im not sold on the looks.

Today I took out a yammy 1900 midnight star, I was thinking 1900cc v-twin = grunt. Nope. Totally gutless. And it looked gay. But it sounded luuurvly with aftermarket pipes, not offensively loud, but very deep and a beautiful banging when I shut the throttle off!

I really want to try out a suzuki intruder 1800 m109r, as on paper they seem to tick all the boxes... not quite an 'old mans' cruiser, but BIG and grunty, but I cant seem to find one at a dealers to test-ride.

My other option is to throw money at my baby. She's a 1200 uly and i love her to bits, but I want her to sound like she should and stretch my arms a bit more!

So, what would you do? Obviously this being a buell site the bias will be towards keeping the Uly, but what would you do to it? An aftermarket can would be the obvious choice, but which one would be favourite for depth of tone and a little bit of banging without upsetting the neighbours tooo much? And how much power would it rob, considering I would like more grunt if possible?

Discuss.

Thats a start. Just how different from standard do they sound though? Is it just louder, or is it deeper? And does it 'pop' a bit?

There are a few videos on here of bikes with Alberts fitted, so you can hear how they sound if you search... ( not sure how to attach any of them here... :oooops: ) Well recommended though. :yup:

Well as you're on borrowed time with an XB    ........................

You'd be better of selling it and getting a Ducati Multistrada-it's what a Rotax engined Ully would have been 8-) 8-)

Get a Triumph Rocket III. :P

Not enough? fit a TTS supercharger kit or a Carpenter Top end - either will give you 250bhp rear wheel..

STILL NOT ENOUGH - Fit both - but expect problems as the resulting 450bhp blows clutch baskets.

As Beef said - MTS1200S - all the grunt you'll ever need, it does everything, beautifully.
2000m on mine now & I'm still blown away by it.

Dare I suggest a Yamaha MT-01? :couch:

1670cc detuned v-twin with peak torque at 3750rpm gotta be pretty "grunty", and it's more of a normal upright bike rather than going into cruiser territory... probably weighs a fair bit tho... Wouldn't mind a go on one meself tho

But then again, I reckon if you're used to riding a Uly, you'd soon get frustrated with the handling on anything bigger and heavier unless you ride like an American :P ;)

The MT01 (even with Stage 3 tuning) isn't going to be much quicker than the Buell.

They do ride surprisingly well for such a big bike though

Beat me to it!

They sound awesome and not too loud - you can always keep the baffle in!

Look tops and sound tops.

Dilema solved.
