Hello All,

I'm new to the forum (and Buells) so hello all you out there in webland. The XR is great but it's a bit loud for me-it's been fitted with a Buell race exhaust, and I was wondering if there was a simple way to reduce the noise output (other than turning the engine off...). There seem to be some small baffles on e-bay which might fit into the exhaust end pipes and could be cut down and wrapped in glassfibre matting. Has anyone done this before? Or does anyone do a slip-on can which is as quiet as the original standard exhaust?

Cheers, Mike J.

It is definitely the Buell XB race exhaust ? Never thought that they were very loud !

Our resident exhaust expert may be able to help, you could PM (send a personal message) him -

But, as they are typical HDB quality and will rust quite quickly in UK conditions - it may be worth getting one of Albert's stainless steel works of art -

Hello Sportstermann,

well, I suppose it's because my last bike was an airhead R100, but I find it a bit embarassing when car drivers crawl along the side of the road as I thunder up behind them...

Cheers, Mike J

Hello again and thanks for the greetings! I think I'll probably have a look out for a stock exhaust over the winter and see what comes along,

Cheers, Mike J.

(thinks.. the BMW club was never like this!...)

You shouldn't have a problem finding a stock exhaust, most people seem to have a hard time getting rid of em, check out the for sale section lOl

In fact I have one myself that I'd gladly swap for your race can, but the logistics would probably be a problem :sad1:
