I've just read SimonD's response to "X1 up a gumtree" in the For Sale section.

I've had my 2000 X1 for about a 1000 miles now and not experienced any problems (reading the forums, that might change soon!) and wondered if anyone near me on the south coast could spare a little time giving it the magnifying glass treatment looking to see what should be changed for longevity and what already has. I'm not familiar with what comes as standard soI've no idea if I'm looking at an "upgrade" or original" part.

The paperwork shows it's not had it's 7000 miles service (1k miles ago) so some work is required imminently and now is a good time to start pampering it.

Any offers?

Appreciatingly..... Psycho.

Another option would be to ride over and book it in with Tubbs.

They were pretty well sorted by that year, so all you probably need are engine/tranny oils and adjust the primary chain which will be 'bedded' in the tensioner shoe by now. Might be worthwhile dropping the oil pump and checking how the drive gear (NOT the one on the pump ;) ) is looking.

No they weren't  .........if not already done, it'll need the later primary chain tensioner as a matter of urgency  .......loadsa other stuff too, which is why I always tell peeps who're looking for an X1 to only consider the 2001MY.
