Make sure the slots are not aligned cos the cable won't be 'Steve Loxton' smooth...

Worked continued on the workshop. Cleared one side ready to whitewash wall and paint the floor as well as move in milling machine and lathe.

Removed the carpet and spotted this
Image
Standing on it and the slab moves a bit. Bugger seems like a pit that has been covered and then had a slab of concrete poured over it. Will need to be done properly, filled with hardcore then have a rebarred slab added. Hmmm didn't bargain for that. Started to white wash the walls. Then after being stuck for 6 hours due to a caravan fire on the M25 I moved this in

Not going to be worrying Spondon440 but I wanted a CNC to play with.
Night on the sauce stopped further progress but thanks to Pash for helping me get the milling machine into the workshop today and words of encouragement when the CNC's PC wouldn't start up.
Next step drill a hole in the slab and using the Willy Buell recommended endoscope camera thingy see if it is a void underneath.

Got one wall whitewashed and now need to move everything over to the other wall to white wash that side.
I bought a job lot of industrial racking that had been made into tables for an assembly line with a load of heavy duty castors on them. The tables are a bit wide to be work benches but I have made one up to put stuff on to make moving it around the workshop easier whilst I paint it and possibly the floor. Afterwards I will make them into moveable work benches by cutting the widths down and securing one end with bolts rather than the slot together method. Alternatively I could look for the correct width pieces but might as well recycle what I have got.

Cool... Hurry up with the workshop cos I want to read stories about DayWalkerBikeWerx... One thing will lead to another, sketches made, parts made, dyno sessions booked etc.

You're supposed to paint the floor before you move stuff in ;) ..................... if you do paint it it is well worth the extra cost of the two pack epoxy floor paints , we use it at work and as long as the surface is prepared correctly it is nearly impossible to damage , we have fork trucks etc running on it at work + steel rollers up to 2 tonne laid on it at times and it doesn't even chip 8-)

Got to admit the floor painting looks like it might not happen as if I have to correctly fill in the pit then I will have to wait for the slab to dry properly etc plus the hassle of the workshop being full. Although I do have the option of parking all the bikes on the patio and filling the side garage with the stuff from the workshop.

And use a light colour. It brightens things up no end. Standard floor paint is rubbish. I got mine for free, but it's still not worth the effort.
Better still, get a nice bit of carpet. It makes cleaning the underside of your shock almost pleasurable. Don't fall asleep with your arm around the bike though, the women get the hump. lOl

Quickly knocked this up in my lunch time and i seems like the cubby hole at the back of the garage is a perfect fit for the floor area required by the CNC Mill.

Hmmm "Half a job Bob" strikes again. After he sucessfully covered the pit he decided he needed a window in the back. Notice how the heavy masonary above is supported by a 45mm thick piece of pine. Hence the crack above it.
Image
Thats OK. Clad the outside to cover the window and the crack and put up a huge sheet of plywood in the alcove to cover the disaster this side and forget you ever wanted a window.
Needs a concrete lintel installing and the window being filled in and the cracked render to be patched up. Glad I was curious as to what was behind the plywood. Drilling the pit slab tonight to be sure whats going on there.
