Gazza your mount and bolts will be posted at the end of the month as agreed.....unless you want G2 to collect them for you (postage is 12.50) ?

Norm, your mount and bolts will be held in stock until you come to have them fitted......or I could ask G2 to deliver ?.......did you transfer the funds ?

All mail orders received up to and including Friday will be sent tomorrow......and then that's it for now, sorry.

Mobby, good luck to you Sir

sorr to hear this MAZ, im always grateful for your help on the odd occasion ive bothered you, and Its a shame the mail order isnt more profitable, to be honest i'd pay more than RRP to get the stuff quick ex stock and to pay towards your free help and advice

For those who dont know I own www.bonsai.co.uk and spend hours giving advice on bonsai to people, some of which have bought trees from the like of Ikea and B&Q, in the hope that they will become customers of mine for years to come

I dont see why you cant take someone on to mash tea/do invoicing/mail order/ post office runs

In these difficult times I've got a few customers that have been laid off/out of work/doing 3 day weeks, and offers of help, or requests for part time work are abundant. Try getting someone couple of days a week to do mail orders

cheers

Corin

Staff = increased employee liability insurance + annual inspection/certification of machinery.....I already pay 103 quid a week for insurance.
Courier collection of orders = more cost to customers that already moan that my prices are the same as main dealers  ......live within spitting distance of a dealer but order a pair of plugs or an oil filter from the comfort of a PC
I'm desperately trying to avoid the threshold for compulsory vat......40 quid an hour + vat anyone ? = increased book keeping/accountancy charges etc. etc..........

Steady as she goes Maz, people can order from The channel islands and enjoy VAT free and free shipping, or put up with inadequate main dealer stock ... your health, family life and business come before the demands and wim's of people here (hmmm maybe I should take some of my own advice!)

I reckon getting back to spannering will renew your interest, free up time and ... heaven forbid ... give you some time for the odd ride!

Oh, and get an answer machine instead, you can screen all the phone mithers then too :)

I have an answer machine......turned it off as I'd spend ages (at my expense) returning calls.

Nuttah, I dont need/want advice as the business is as good as I want it to be.....especially now I've sacked the mail order side of it.

A 6 day/60 hour week would suit me just fine, spannering the bikes I love without the added mither of staff etc. 8-)

:yt: You only go around once, so other considerations like family, time for yourself, etc are far more important than anything else.
Like Ash says, get an answer phone

(.....and I'd love to hear the message ;) )

I feel for you Maz. It does sound like you need to kick back and think what is the best way forward for you. Only you can answer that one.
I know from the 18 years i spent working in the Family business before doing what I do now that life would have been perfect if it hadn't been for customers!
As for giving free tech. advise - charge or don't do it.

Remember there are only 2 types of customer. Those that pay and those that don't.
If some moan but still pay then ignore the moan, those that don't pay don't get!
When I first ordered bits from you I was surprised when you sent the bits before you received my cheque - I thought what a lovely (but mad) fella.
you where missed at Cosford.

Sorry to hear of your fustration's Maz, but I'm sure there's a lot of people who would love to say the're small buisness was overworked.

Why not work 5 days at 8hrs, or 10hrs if you want, have Sat and Sun off.
If people can't wait for service then fu-k them, there's only one of you, you have to have some free time.
I know how you feel though, I like helping mates out by knowing I'm doing a better job than the 'experts' running a workshop. Once I spent 1 weekend (9am to 6pm-both days), removing exhaust studs from a GSX600 engine, then I felt guilty for asking my mate for £50 just to recover my costs.

You've got a son haven't you? Let him do the mail order, he could collate the orders then you make 1 or 2 trips to the post office a week.
You could pay him a reasonable sum of 'Pocket money'. Put him to work, that's what kids are for! Everyone else who does mail order always sends stuff out at the end of the day, If people can't wait, then tough, I don't mind waiting as long as I get things when I'm promised.
The phone calls are tricky though, but what are people needing help with? The Buell range is incredibly simple, and hopefully soon, we'll have a comprehensive list of 'How To's'. I guess the're not asking you how to replace the output bearing on an XB are they? So what do they need to know?

Step back for a while mate, and chill out for a bit. Just try reorganizing one bit of your week, and it might make things easier for you.

:sun:

Thanks for your concern LE but you really aint got a clue mate !

My son is 13 years old and goes to school everyday

I send out, on average, over 50 mail orders every week.

Saturdays are the busiest day of the week.....most folk work the other 5 and play out on Sunday

You really wouldn't believe the phone calls, everything from changing a bulb to a full engine overhaul.....and even though I'm very rude, some folk just cant take a hint and will talk for as long as THEY want......maybe I should just hang up on them
