Wish I'd never started that one theyre discounted at one of those sites, wot about the rucksack thingy buell supply I used one for 5 days in scotland wif a tank bag and was more than enough no leaks and the more luggage you have the more crap you take and you always wear same stuff anyway less is more , thats wot I tell me wife.

The Uly is a great bike but the lack of side support for soft stuff is a problem and I have not found any "off-the-shelf" stuff that will sort it. It is a design thing of both the bags and the bike. A sort of chalk and cheese situation .

Anyway my thoughts on this was to make a support bracket out of alloy sheet and fit it using the two bolts of the undertray. You could also mod the bolts so that the bracket could be quick to remove for normal "day2day" use. After all the bike does look better without all that iron on it .

If you are local maybe I can knock something up for you. Also it might be something Palmer would be into and cheap to make.

No wider than the bars, so don't affect filtering.

No offense to those that have chosen the Peli route but they look even worse than the H&B system IMO.

Thanks for the offer TFD but I will use some industrial espionage and fab up a rack that connects to the rear of the pillion pegs and the two bolts under the tail and see how that works.

Personally, I think if you've got to have hard luggage on an Uly, go for Pelicans, they look good, they're strong as you want and they are genuinely waterproof too

I did some research into fitting Pelis, and you have 2 routes, one is to buy the kit complete, (good but expensive), the other is to source it yourself. Happy Trails do a rack kit to take Pelis and you can buy the cases off ebay. Even paying import duty it works out quite a lot cheaper than buying the complete kit. I did write this up a few months ago, but you'll probably have to do a search in the archives now.

Hard luggage? Metal Mule. No contest.

Soft luggage? Kriega backpack, Kriega tailpack and the add-ons.

Job done.
