I know you're already in touch with BB, mate, but don't be put off by the distance. As long as Jon and Steve are there, it's the only place this side of Manchester you should be taking your Buell.

And if they agree to pick it up for you, let me know, as I'll stick mine in the back of the van too - it could do with some more pimping!

If you're ever riding round Redhill, give me a shout.

Al

Cheers Al,
I had a chat with Steve about the whole thing including the problem(s), my dealer and the distance to Black Bear and we came to an agreement.

I'll be getting the bike to the dealer tomorrow.

Well from what I've read on here your bike will be in good hands at BB. I'm gunna find out how good they are on weds when my bike is going for it's service. 160 mile round trip but I think it will be worth it.

Anybody know any good roads to play about on near BB once my bike is ready?

Yup. Find Haverhill, then Finchingfield on your map. Go there. Have fun. Best roads in the south east.

Al

Update:
Apparently there were two problmes -
1. The terminals on the battery were loose, which was probably my fault for not having secured them properly after at bit of fiddling.
2. Oil pressure was low (not sure exactly why ATM), the dealer is awaiting some oil pump parts from the US and the bike will apparently be ready at the end of the month.

Damn underground for me for a while! :x

Still on the tube and bus :(
It has been seriously getting me down recently, I can't remember what it's like to ride, I was only on it for about 12 days before the problem!

In Sainsbury's the name was taunting me!

The Oxford Hot grips(TM) come with things called instructions, they will tell you why you where still able to charge your battery and why it was not in a permanent state of deep discharge. As for running off the road i have seen this for myself so i know what you,re talking about, When you,re not consentrating the verge suddenly shifts all by itself and appears under your wheels, Although its been many years since. I do much more stupid sht now...

Sorry? Are you taking the p1ss? ;)

The latest is that the awaited parts ('gear rotors' IIRC) arrived yesterday afternoon, were installed, but the pressure is still 3psi too low at idle (7psi when it should be 10psi). However, when the revs rise above even 1200rpm, the pressure shoots up to where it should be.

Further help has been sought from HD in the US, but until then, no XB for me.

I have been offered a full refund but one of the owners of the dealership. TBH, i want a bike, not the cash after signing on the dotted line for finance, I want something to show for it.
They apparently still don't have a courtesy bike for me to use, which is quite frustrating.

OP at idle should be 10-16 psi.......I'd be looking very closely at the pressure relief valve.

I talked to the mechanic today who told me that the bike has now had it's fourth different pressure relief valve.
The reply from HD in the US (they were waiting for help) was to try the complete oil pump from another machine; they did so and there was a very negligible difference :?

Hmmm...

;)

I can't believe that the problem would be something so simple, but you never know! So I might casually slip the oil grade into the next conversation I have with the mechanic.

I am in no-Bue-hell!

No.
After the aforementioned long and helpful chat with Steve, we decided that I would be better off bringing the bike to the dealership where I originally bought it which is about 8 miles from me instead of the trip to Newmarket which is about 70 miles.

I have refrained from mentioning the (dealer's) name on here in order to avoid the inevitable trolling and because the matter is not yet resolved one way or the other.
However, the lack of help and poor form (IMO) I'm being shown makes me question the previous decision and consider a trip to Newmarket; of course, I have no guarantee that BB would know how to fix the XB either, although they would probably have a clue! ;)
