I have been using that Silicon shine stuff for a number of years with no problem. Wash the bike then spray and wipe off the residue.

My fastners are like new and the dirt comes off with rain or just a wipe. I use my bikes all the time and the Uly, like my past bikes, is outside 24/7. I do a bike once a year. The last can cost £2 and lasted 5 years. Works for me ;)

Used to use SS100 didn't seem to work well, then tried Bumper shine and this seems to repel the water really well and is dirt cheap. Troubles is it burns off of the engine and other hot stuff.

Now use FS365 and bumper shine and this works well just reapply the FS 365 after each wet ride. But the direct etc sticks to the FS365 but give it a wash and voila like new again. Buy direct from scottoiler for free postage and much cheaper.

I stopped using ACF-50 cos of the oily residue. I now use Swarfega's 'Duck Oil'. Top stuff and no oilyness. Now only £4 a tin at my local Vauxhaull dealer. ;)

Yep bump shine/Silicon stuff is good.

Do not use it on cans, cylinder heads or anything else that gets very hot. Not on brake discs or pads either or you will end up in a wooden box. Using it on the seat base will knock out all the grip and is best avoided

Hmm yes silicon spray is also excellent for shining up the plastics of motox bikes....trick is to lay out all parts on a sheet of newspaper on kitchen laminate flooring then clear up before going for a pint ........then when you get home half pissed and kick your shoes off as you come in the door you'll never cross the kitchen as quick again in your life     still got the dent in the fridge :D

ACF 50 works well in my experience. If you ride daily it doesn't hurt to repeat the treatment once or twice during winter but it lasts longer than anything else I have tried. You can even rince the bike with wather and a soft brush to get the worst of the muck off on those "pleasant" wet days with tons of salt on the road, without having to re-spray the bike with ACF50 every time. I bought a litre bottle with refill pump-can, cheaper than individual spray cans.

just sprayed a bike with s100 dealer reckoned that it is better if your storing the bike which i plan to do through winter, as opposed to actually riding through the winter which they reckoned acf was better. used acf on a bike i rode through last winter seemed to work, but it seems to always remain sticky ,all the crap sticks to it. reading these posts not sure if the s100 is any good now? sprays on easier than the acf, and seems to dry like a wax? any one used s100 solely for storage of a bike.
dont fancy washing it off in the spring and getting a shock.

I haven't used S100 myself but I've seen bikes which have used it and they came up ok, as long as everything is properly plastered in the stuff. Looks like crap but comes out well.

busters used to do agood deal on acf 50.Kept my o/e pipe rust free to i could replace it with a nice stainless(noisy one).Just don't spray it on to thick or it will remain tacky.Spray it on and wipe over with old t shirt to cover bigger area.

The S1OO stuff is the one for storing the bike, AfC-5O for riding both will do the job, both good products.

just found that can get 5 litres of duck oil for 28 pounds, actually remember using it on a Ducati darmah, in my late teens, 100 years ago. might try that in future. reckon the acf and s100 are too expensive, paid 10 for a small tin of s100 and 30 for 1 litre of acf. guess there both top products. just reckon were getting fleeced at these prices.
