Oh, sorry i Apologize if you think slagging off Is Trying to Tell someone that a certain job has been done with incorrect procedure that may or may not have resulted in the noisey engine and also suggest what the engine noise may be. As i am not a mechanic ,i Apologize for suggesting that maz, britains only buell only specialist was Worth a call or visit rather than mate down the road, all this has been said on Facebook which Is as close e to face to face as i can get :headbang:

No disrespect to Maz, yes he is a Buell specialist fucking miles from where I live, I'm sure he does not study his book every time a job needs doing.....there is no internal damage to the engine..... It's a noisy lifter...... I'm glad you all find it comical...... Absolute no disrespect to Maz, instead of sending your bikes off why don't you have a go yourself..... I have the money to fix anything I come across so who gives a shit..... Too many people that can read a manual but can't hold a spanner in my opinion.......I have the personal satisfaction of learning and being able to fix my own bike......if it cost me so what??? Bikers are not meant to kick each other about.... Meant to be a community come good or bad.......

I have to do training and scale every give heads as these appliances are dangerous. Now think any body working on a bike or car, do something wrong ,BIG failure , not so much the bike ,though rider Is i. Peril , what Is more da.gerous than 1 to 2 tons of metal careering up to 70mph out of control . So forgive me for suggesting a non profesional person weeks advise from people WHO do know

Matt , everybody both on here and on facebook was hoping for good outcome on your engine work , nobody wanted it to go wrong for you or for others that do their own work, should we all have said nothing thus allowing others to risk their own engines in the future?
Despite advice from lots of people and also a lot of help from people trying to help diagnose the problems there was still one or two that were in denial that the cause MAY have been the result of the way it had been stripped down. The damage it can cause is real and a lot of people on here have fallen foul to the damage it can cause. Those that ignore the procedure and don't suffer damage are very very lucky.
You will never find a group of more helpful people anywhere than on UKBeg I can assure you.

Chill out pal, you won't find a better community than this one anywhere, if the cost of that is a bit of ribbing then what the fuck.

I have been watching Matts misfortune on facebook and found this link again today as I am replacing rocker cover gaskets myself this week.

Do we think that;
Ignoring gradual leak down of the hydraulic lifters meant that in the workshop and during the process of turning the engine the valve was bent due to a temporarily over length push rod?
This might suggest the clickety noise he heard was not a loose lifter waiting to pump itself up nice and snug, but instead the lightly bent valve kissing the piston.
later that morning at highish speed the piston decided it didnt like being kissed and spat the valve out the exhaust and farted all over the crankshaft.
Or something ?
Ill wait for replies before i do much more.
by the way my factory manual doesn't cover the modern X1 HD gasket set, which way up do they go?
