My first Buell ride was a demo M2 with 'race kit' from Dorking HD in 1997.
It was a hot and uncomfortable experience due to 40mph limits everywhere and the wooden brakes that needed a service........but I still spent the next 8 years wanting one! 8-) until I rode an XB9S, XB9SX, XB12Ss, XB12Scg.....and wanted all of those as well! lOl You can never have too many. ;)

I let Edd ride Sister of Muffin today... Let's wait for the road test report :eat:

I would have quoted you pash, but your post was a mile wide on this borrowed PC! :?

I 1st rode an X1 at Motex north of Worcester in 2003, but it was a bit iffy with a dodgey injection system that misfired while cranked over on roundabouts and it seemed a bit flat in the midrange, but got better above 4500. Didn't like the head down riding position compared with the Cyclones I'd ridden.

Just a brief impression; Pash's X1 was a different bike in many ways. Engine was much better. With 1/2 US gearing? a hard roll on acceleration made me glad of the seat hump. That thing pulls, and just when most things seem to run out of puff, it pulls even more with a wee bit more throttle. Gawd knows what the cars I passed were thinking! lOl Still don't really gel with the riding position. ;)

My City X should have been running by now, but...........you know how it is! Things seem to take longer when you are scratching around for income.

Funny how the paint on everything lifts and how alloy furs up. The swing arm was frightening underneath where you rarely look, but smooth silver Hammerite seems to be a good match if you're not too fussy.
The motor centre sections and e-start also had much flakiness! :?

XB12R muffler has had good rub down and several coats of smooth black.

Headers are easier to polish when they are off the bike, so reasonably shiny now for a change. 8-)

Swing arm bearings done, new tyres, now a new EBR disc in place.....except that I put it on wrong way around to start with! Should have looked at the many pics on here.

Steering head bearings next. They were notchy as hell now there's no weight in the yokes to disguise it. ;)

Soon....soon! lOl

Thanks for the support. ;)

I made up a reasonably close paint match for patches on inner cases from smooth silver Hammerite mixed with Humbrol model enamel paints; added grey no.126 tin and a little black no.85 to get the tone. Needs a tiny bit more black than I used. Hammered black for bits of starter mixed with Humbrol 33 (matt black) as you don't see much of these bits anyway. 8-)

....master bodger! lOl

Update on the grey crankcase colour. I have added a little no.28 matt grey and use 33 matt black to above as this gives more 'satin' finish like original. Hope it don't peel when it runs!
