Think Black Cat roundabout (A1/A421) might be a suitable rendezvous for you two. There's a Little Chef or posh coffee at the Shell station. Prior to that there is a big BP station with posh coffee at Wavendon Gate also on tha A421 before you cross the M1.

I would turn of the M1 at Nottingham, take the A606 to Melton Mowbray, then on to Oakham before joining the A1 at Stamford, then down to the A14 and across to Newmarket. Everyone should turn up with a grin
