I have seen the future today, and it's not Willy's X1 or Pash's beret

Thanks to everyone who attended today's UKBEG event at the National Motorcycle Museum. A beautiful summers day and a ride on a Buell to meet friends old and new - does it get much better?

There were 19 Buells in total, 8 of which were S1's. We didn't quite reach double figures but it was an impressive line-up nonetheless. DaveH's immaculate S1WL was easily the best S1 there. It's a stunning machine and the best we've seen in recent years. We hope it didn't piddle on you on the way home, Dave.

It was good to see Steve (Ursus) from Erik Buell Racing getting back to his roots on the S1WL, it must have made a nice change to riding the EBR 1190RX all over the place.

Thanks also to Dave and Julie from Northants V-twin, who were riding their Ulysses and XB12SCG, for bringing along a few of their HD buddies with them, it made for an interesting collection of bikes.

We've now held 4 specific Buell model meets at the NMM and although the numbers attending haven't been very large, those that have made the effort have enjoyed the day out and they're certainly worth continuing with.

For those of us that like lists :P .....
Ulysses meet, 14-04-13 = 11.
1125R/CR meet, 12-05-13 = 6.
9R/12R Firebolts meet, 15-06-14 = 9.
S1/S1WL meet, 27-07-14 = 8.

Next year we'll do X1's and Blasts :4roz:....

Great day out, with a great bunch of riders. :sun:
I'm glad that I made the effort, despite a bit of jet lag. I normally say that the S1 ran perfectly and indeed it did until we stopped for a drink on the way back. I needed to leave before the others in the posse, but the bike started to miss fire and the rev counter was all over the place. It finally died on a blind bend and I pushed it to a safer spot. Luckily, the Wiltshire posse came along and it turned out to be a loose fuse. Thanks to all.
I'll cable tie them in place before the next thrashing. ;)
300 odd miles today. :sun:

A brilliant day out. I've never done the A515 (thr)ashbourne rd all the way to Lichfield, usually stopping in Ashbourne for a brew in the square, What a superb road. Good to talk to a few fellow S1 owners i've not met before, and those i've already had the pleasure of meeting. C J it stayed dry all the way home, couldn't have been better, hope it did for you and Jane too. 10 out of 10 for today :yup:

Dave - we enjoyed sunshine all the way home, although they'd forecast the possibility of heavy afternoon showers for our ride back ooop norf they didn't materialise.

Nick - we'll continue with the NMM for these specific Buell model meets because of its central England location but we will include a normal UKBEG meet at AV8 in next years events diary. That's one place we'd like to visit :P...

One of the more interesting Harleys at yesterdays event...
