Matron and I aren't going to make it sadly, we are going dress shopping (for her in case there is any doubt :D ) as you can imagine I'm looking forward to it - big family wedding in Wales next weekend and she only arrived home late last night and she is on course all week so we're pushed for time.

If the mission is successful we are gonna try and get to Knockhill on Sunday to watch Spen (if he racing on the Sunday).

Have fun in Cumbria

Been home about 3 hours and just finished watching the Grand Prix.
Had a fantastic weekend and can highly recommend this weekend for anyone thinking about it for next year.
Had some great weather on the Friday and Saturday and although it was a bit wet today it wasn't to bad.
It was good to meet Joe, Johnny and Linda and Andrew and Andrew appeared this morning.
Just had a Chinese and a few beers and will be going to my bed soon as I'm knackered.
I will let Chris fill you in about where we went on the rideout.

We'd like to thank Norrie, Rawni, Edd, Joel, Linda and Johnny for attending this weekends UKBEG event in Cumbria. This was our third year using the Brotherswater Inn/Campsite and Kirkstone Pass Inn as a base and it was as good as ever. Excellent company, food and drink, and staff with a biker-friendly attitude make all the difference.

A special mention must go to Joel, Linda and Johnny who had ridden 350 miles from the Eastbourne area on Friday to attend the event.

There were 6 Buells on Saturday's ride-out: 4 x Ulysses, 1 x 1125CR and 1 x XB12Scg, plus Jane's Guzzi 750 and Edd's Fireblade.

This morning two fellow Buell riders, Andrew (X1) and Andrew (XB12) rode from the Skipton area for breakfast at the Brotherswater Inn before going for a ride around the Lakes.

Leaving aside today's rain, which we managed to miss the worst of, it has been a superb weekend in the Lake District. Friday was good but Saturday was just sublime - perfect conditions and almost crystal clear skies meant the mountains could be seen at their best.

For Saturday's ride-out I used much the same route as last year. Using mostly deserted B roads, we rode 90 miles through some of the best scenery the region has to offer. Travelling anticlockwise, we rode through or past Ullswater, Troutbeck, Keswick, Derwent Water, Borrowdale, Honister Pass, Buttermere, Crummock Water, Loweswater, Ennerdale, Eskdale, Wast Water, Birker Fell, Furness Fells, Coniston Water and Ambleside.

I know many of you had expressed an interest in this event but left it too late to book. We'll definitely be holding the same event in 2011 so I'd advise booking early for one of the best riding/social events in the UKBEG calendar.

Glad you all had a good time. I met (accosted) Linda and Johnny in a service station car park just South of Westmoreland on my way home from work on Friday night. Bizarre, as I have never used that service station before. I hope I didn't frighten them too much lOl

We never even made it to Knockhill, as it was raining here most of the day - stayed in bed instead ;)

Magz - they did mention that you'd collared them, I don't think they'll ever be the same again :D....

The weather gods were kind, would have loved to have joined you but tied up for the weekend. Might just retrace your route tomorrow, see if you left any oil trails or litter ;)

Hi All

Many thanks from the Southern crew - we really enjoyed this trip

Thanks for the tour on Saturday (including that glorious weather) and the warm welcome - good to meet up ... apart from the football

I took the long way up and back again ... Approx 900 miles in total this trip
This was a solo effors as the Motorway junkies went off without me
MUST sort the comfy factor of my seat before "Thunder In the Glenns" trip!!

I would advise an early booking for next year. We had the bunkhouse at Brotherswater which is described as basic - hahahaha. I was ok on my own in the 2-bed room. Johnny & Linda however ended up in the B+B up the road without a refund on the bunkhouse. Not a huge loss at £14pp pn but still beer money wasted.

I have a few decent photos but I am being informed that the files are too large?

Had a really good weekend, thanks CJ and Jane for organising it.
Had a few problems with Binky not starting, so we arrived really really late at the Kirkstone Pass Inn. The staff were great about our late arrival (even if they did put us in the haunted room  )
The weather was fantastic on the Saturday, shame about the ride home though.
I challenged Ed to get us home without using a single bit of motorway or dual carriageway. He had a route worked out, and there was some intial upset til I conceded that crawler lanes don't count as a dualler. But we gave up at Carlise, when we realised that we were absolutely soaked and it was gonna be a very long wet day if we stuck to the challenge. Ah well, just means that we'll have to do it on the way down to Lincolnshire next month.

Was good to see old friends, and make some new ones. lOl and Binky behaved for the rest of the weekend too. :yup:

Hi Rawni - glad you both made it home safe, if a little soggy around the edges :?....
