starter clutch failure was bad luck I think, but thats the second time in 6k miles....am I missing something mate.

Check voes operation and make sure its purple/white wire hasn't gone to earth on its way to the ignition module.
Also check ignition timing.
Are you fitting genuine sprag clutches or cheap pattern jobbies ?

Thanks Maz, I had to think about your reply for a while because I'm a 'retard'. I am however 99% sure it is the sprag clutch, I'll check VOES wire and timing....starter motor was suppied by Universal Rotating Electrics Ltd (google them) I will call and ask what parts they fit....in the mean time, have a crap new year pal... lOl lOl lOl

Only reason I mentioned the voes/wiring/timing is that if the starter is trying to turn over an engine on full advance mode the sprag will have a very hard life
