Post subject: | Hello from potential Buell 1125r buyer |
Just thought I would join and see what the people on here are like. I am considering the purchase of my first Buell, a 2009 1125r. Still undecided yet but the Buell has won my heart. I would appreciate what people here think about it as a general purpose bike. I do a 40 mile round trip commute each day to Bath and although I have taken it for a test run for an hour I am curious to learn how people out there use it as a daily bike. |

I would n`t use one for crawling along in traffic , what's the point. 40 miles on the motorway maybe. |

Most of my journey during the week is along the A46. Bendy and fast road. Or I can go the opposite direction and travel along the Bristol ring road. At the weekends, I want to have a bit more fun etc. So, general bike not a toy bike ![]() |

Don't get your impressions from riding a new 1125, try one with at least 6k miles on it. The motor gets better and better ![]() |

The one I am considering has only 1000K on it presently. It's still under warranty and almost new. |

Ah...typing error. That's what you get for understanding metric only and being very tired. Meant to say 1000 miles. ![]() |

Going to take another look at the bike this week but still so undecided. Perhaps its shiny new bike syndrome as the chap in the shop says? |

Have a very good look and think carefully. I bought an 09 model after being knocked of my XB. It was brand new and a good deal compared to the price another XB would have cost me. I picked up the bike and straight away had problems with the engine running properly when warm. This problem has been looked at by the dealership in Bristol and also Guildford HD. Crankshaft sensor has been replaced as well as the ECU. It was in and out the workshop trying to fix this problem, but it hasn't been fixed yet. I told them what the most likely cause of the problem is after ![]() To cut a long story short, HD support sucks big time. The bike itself is great and that is the only reason I want to keep it for now but I don't think I would buy another one. I see your location is Bristol ![]() ![]() |

You don't rate Riders very high then? As the official HD/Buell dealers for servicing etc., what other options would I have? |

Welcome to the site mate. the other options you have are read and pay attention to the how-to section on here, Listen to the advice given on here. there are other places to get the bike serviced depends if you dont mind sticking a few extra miles on the bike to get there. take everything on here with a pinch of salt most people only put there problems with the bikes on here. for every bad point there is probably 10 good points. if you think its the bike for you get it. only you can make the choice. |

Well, the only good thing I can say about them is that they apologised each time they mucked something up ![]() But as losttyke said you don't get many good points on a forum. Just as I said, I like the bike and if you are happy with it.... |

True for most things I guess. I work in IT. I never hear the praise, just the complaints. A former MD of mine once said, if things are going right you'll never hear from people but one day when the water or electricity or whatever isn't there, then you hear the Daily Mail crowd .... LOL! |

What is BB? Is there a trend someplace on bad service or customer service from Riders? I've never had need to use them before but never heard anything about their service either. |

BB= Black bear in Suffolk. Be a bit of a ride for you but worth it for the service you get. |
