 Post subject: American xb12Ss rider

So last April I bought a used Buell for $7000... Considering it only had 3k miles on it I considered it a steal of a deal! Especially since buell had been shut down by Harley only months beforehand. The only real American street bike in production I could find, it is my pride and joy! Then I realized that H-D stood for "hundred dollars", or rather, everything is so expensive for these wonderful machines! But the sound, the feel of the vibrations numbing my feet, and the excitement of raw unrefined American muscle street fighter really gets my blood pumping. And I can't put a price tag on the love I have for my 2 wheeled beastly beauty.
I had no idea there was a following of buellers in the uk, and recently found out the Germans make some astonishing aftermarket parts that make me wish I could travel, AND afford to rebuild my buell while I'm there.
I'm a 22 year old white male and I bought the Ss because I'm 6'5" and 170lbs. As a college student I've discovered the ladies love the "vibes" from not just the motor, but the stylings as well. And let's just say it's gonna be worth every last penny I invest into my buell. ;)
I'm here to realize my dreams of not only riding a rare bike, but having it be unmistakable as anything but my own. Also I'm here on the forum so I can avoid the Harley dealership at all costs, because even with shipping and conversion rates, and the waiting for parts to arrive from a land so far off, it's still going to be cheaper and easier than getting raped by my local H-D dealer.
Proud to ride a buell, but ashamed to admit it's a Harley @ heart...

Welcome!
Out West (in Vista, CA), the best bet for parts from someone other than a dealer would be American Sportbike: http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/
run by Al and Joanne.
They know of what they speak, and have lots and lots of goodies for your bike.
Get a Free Spirits belt tensioner, install it with the How-To post here on this site, and get a grease nipple fitting to help health and longevity of the bike (also info on here).

PS you could have had mine for 6.

Lol, if I would have known I might have taken you up on that motorrad. But either way I'm excited to ride! I'm the guy on campus that goes out of his way to converse with the other bikers as we park or prepare to ride out from classes. I just cant seem to get enough!
Any hits on buell guys getting together and kicking tires/riding thru some twisties? I rarely see buell's, and I'd really enjoy chatting with people that have the same burning passion for a bike with as many issues as it has wonders :)

Not many opportunities to arrange Californian meet-ups on UKBEG. You might try the US sites:
badweatherbikers.com
buelletinboard.com
buellxb.com

Introduce yourself, look for NoCal ride groups, and you'll be all set up.
