Post subject: | Being obvious - XB9s or XB12s |
Hi, Just had a test on an XB9S last Sat while trying to decide on an easy to ride modern bike. Needless to say I was well impressed! Taking it round my usual test track I have a patch of uphill slip road I use for a basic acceleration test. Now I'm used to grunty Italians so that may come into play here, but the XB9 pulled smartly and comfortable up to 70mph in good time which a street triple I tried a while back wouldn't. Sooo... if buying new why not the XB9S? It's a load cheaper than the XB12 so what am I missing out on otherwise? Vibration? Fuel economy? Charisma? Power? Reliability? I know it's an obvious one but I gotta know Thanks everyone Chris |

Welcome Chris I tried both when I was looking but in the end went for XB12S. I just liked the extra grunt. "there no substitute for litres" a good friend once said to me. Bob |

Go for the XB12 i did and i found it was not much more to insure than a XB9 but has the extra grunt, extra grin factor and the 8 pot stopper ![]() ![]() |

Yup same guy... I've not got rid of the Raptor yet - no one wants them these days for some reason, no balls I reckon ![]() Thanks for all the answers. I think I get the picture with the Buells. I expect it'll be a new XB9 or a second hand XB12 if I do go for it. I know I'll be split between the better engine and having a warranty. Exciting stuff |

Both can make similar power, it's all about the torque. If you like banging through the gears, the XB9 can be immensely rewarding. If you are a lazy BEGgar who loves to ride the wave of torque, get an XB12. |
