Hi as old age beckons I am very tempted to buy a buell xb12 or 9 They look to tick all the boxes , I am after great handling, soulful engine , and realistic real world speeds I am not too sure if I would fit comfortably on the short wheel base as I am quite tall and stocky any advice welcome . Due to my location try before I buy is not an option, lI have seen a nice one but I still require to sell my falco beforehand When I got the falco quite a few years back the owner also had a buell x1 that he loved , and it’s stuck in my mind that I should try one some day ( other option a grisso ) So any advice 12 or 9 ? and what chassis size ? any better years to go for ? obsolete spares ? must do modifications ? much appreciated Bob |

welcome Bob i had an xb9r..but was too tall in my, & my spines opinion , Im 5'10" the xbs has a longer seat , the ullyses is taller too but tubular framed Buells are taller & have more room 2001 X1 is apparently the best Buell  the S1 is the sexy one but has a very short & narrow seat the M2 is the middle ground Don

Im 5ft 10 also and 61 ....love my bolt cos it got flat bars ....got m2 also which i use for touring |

Hi Bob I am 6ft 4" and built like a brick shithouse and I have chosen a 2008 XB12 Ulysses I have a low and a high seat and I have had no complaints yet. |

Thanks I have seen a nice xb12s that’s got me thinking hence will I fit ? I am over 6 foot 100 kg and a grumpy old bas***d Not too sure on the Ulysses I can see it being the better and more useful bike off the lot but the s with it’s short mean looks appeals, the longer seat even on the ss spoils its lines for me Bob |

I've owned over 60 bikes and still have quite a few ranging from Sportbikes, Motards, and tourers (bought a R1200rs two days ago) - they all come and go, but my X1 is the 'best' bike I've ever owned including all the fuel in frame Buells I've had. The X1 will never be sold, in fact, Mrs Adam has a sealed envelope saying who to give it to should anything happen to me

Common upgrades ? Any years to avoid ? Tank problems ? ( heard they bubble ? ) I do like the style and they look a little more man size |

I can't really see spares being a problem (in any case, I have another for spares plus an extra motor ) and the tanks don't bubble like other Tubers because they have a plastic cover over the fuel cell. All the upgrades are readily available. They are the thinking man's Vincent

im of a similar size to yourself bob,well i was until sober for october,took of nearly a stone.my scg xb12 is a perfect fit cause you sit in it not on it,it looks the bollocks as well and is so much fun to ride. |

Hi I am of a similar opinion to Adam, had loads of bikes and got an X1 sixteen years ago. I will be buried with it. |
