Just a post to introduce myself. I've been looking forward to joining after lurking for a long long time. 10 years ago a friend of mine passed me the keys to his new Buell xb9. I'd never heard of Buell, and never seen a more innovative and interesting bike. Ever since I've been fascinated by Buell and have always promised myself a bike like my friends. Last week a bike came up that I could not let slip away. A Buell XB9 city-x. The bike is like new. It's extremely low mileage and I think a really good find (hopefully). So I'm probably going to be needing advice on various aspects of Buell ownership. I'm from Wales uk and you really don't see many Buells on the roads here so all help will be a really appreciated. |

Welcome Hoofy. Good choice of bike . I'm no expert but I would say twist the reflectors off the fork legs if they are still on as the legs corrode behind them and fit a free spirits belt tensioner to save the output shaft bearing.

Hope not! Mot test booked for the morning, I can't see there being any issues there. Then need to book it in somewhere for a once over as although it's only got 1400 miles on the clock it is nearly 9 years old so things will need checking at least. |

welcome aboard dude .....needs a free spirts tensoner ........and a lucky hands gear......tyre pressures at 30/32 that will help save your wheel bearings ....... |

Best method is to warm them up with a hair drier and twist them off - then remove and sticky stuff with petrol or similar If the bike is a dry bike only then hopefully all will be well underneath  And welcome by the way

Hi. Thanks for reply's I'll be taking the reflectors off front and back. Along with back pegs and the cheese grater. What's the deal with the lucky hands thing? Did a quick search and it mentioned oil pumps? Also the tensioner I need to read up on Are they that bad? It rides beautifully. I'm really pleased I bought it. |
