Hi there,

First of all I should probably introduce myself, I'm Jess I'm from West Wales and I have a 2010 Buell 1125r in black. The Buell believe it or not is only my second bike and was an upgrade from an sv650s after the postman parked his van on top of it (rip suzi) after only 8 months of owning it.

I’ve had the Buell (Bruce I like to call it, please don’t hate it just goes haha) a year now after stumbling across one on the internet and thinking I have to have that bike... Suffice to say it was a very hasty decision and at first I really (really) didn’t get along with it and I’d thought I’d made a massive mistake! I nearly got rid of it back in May a month before I was due to go on holiday with friends but something told me to hang on! Nonetheless we went on round south of France on the bikes and I came back realising I’d actually made the best choice ever, something just clicked. So here we are 5 months later and me and Bruce are inseparable and I’ve got the itch to spend now, namely on an exhaust.

So the reason I’m here is a) to catch up with other buellers as my other bike buddies just don’t understand haha and b) for advice and a lot of it! (so forgive me for the numerous dumb questions the forum maybe become inundated with) I’m pretty clueless when it comes to technical things and I have no idea where to even start looking for my new exhaust, every time I try I end up in American sites and I’d like to avoid costly importing if possible! So any advice will be greatly received.

Looking forward to getting to know the community :D

Many thanks

Welcome Jess !

Ask away on the questions, there are plenty of experts (smartarses) that will chip in with their advice/opinions ...

And I'll start the ball rolling - does the motor of your bike have the oil sight window, or do you use the dipstick to gauge the oil level ?

Welcome Jess, from another Forum smartarse lOl

I've got an Albert pipe on my 1125r, and it's the best built aftermarket pipe I've ever seen 8-) It works well too, and the fit is spot on 8-) 8-)

The reason you were asked if you used a window or a dipstick was that the '10 models used a window in the crankcases (like Jap bikes etc) to check the oil level. Very few, if any, R models made their way to the UK any only a few of the CRs made it here either. Follow the oil checking routing to the letter (and make sure the bike is ABSOLUTELY level in ALL planes, otherwise you'll a false level reading. Read up on the site about charging and clutch slave issues and once there are sorted, buy an EBR ecm or investgate what ECM Spy can offer (Gunter/ Pash/ Maz will advise you about this - I like carbs lOl ). Enjoy :yup: 8-)

As for the Welsh bit, Dusty (of this Parish) is down your neck of the woods, and I'd be up for a canter down the coast, and perhaps meet up for a brew in Aber? sometime :?: (p.s I don't do wet+cold, these days ;) lOl )

Ah I see, I vaguely remember reading about something like that somewhere. Thanks for the tip. :yup: As for the pipe, yummy :) can't wait to get things moving on that, I've delayed it too long!

Yea I'd be up for a run sometime most definately, I work a shift pattern so my days off are a bit funny but it would be nice to meet up, I've not met anyone else with a buell yet so it would be great to pick your brains ! I'm not most keen on the wet either so we will have to pray for a nice day sometime :sun:
