First off, hello to one and all. A little about myself. I'm 27, one dodgy hip, one dodgy knee.
Been riding since 13 year-old and my current bikes are a 1200 bandit, zx6r and a pair of cb500 race bikes. Before everyone calls me greedy! I am selling the lot!
Due to my hip (which the NHS has rated at about 70 years old) I cannot get my foot up easily to my pegs on the 6r. More then frustrating! I am a speed freak as my other friends say but now am switching to a bike for everyday transport...I was looking at every variety of supermoto which do appeal due to easy riding position...but then I racked my mind to the bike Erotica of my school days and I ALWAYS dreamed about having a Buell one day...now this is where I would like to call on "the best buell sites" help.

I love speed and appreciate that my little 6r being punished by heavy hands will challenge most models...but if everyone had to advise their top 3 for daily use with reasonable combination of power and economy...which models would it be guys?
I also am semi crippled as aforementioned and would like to know if anyone owns a Buell in or around the Essex area? Not for a test ride. Just a simple sit and see test to see if the position is doable for me?
I am a hooligan type of rider and I know that Buell suit the bill there but it must be a well handling model.
As far as how they look...they are the only thing made outside of Italy in the bike world that I would describe as auto erotica so looks wise I would have any model!

I am sorry to come right in full steam ahead but I am an impatient soul and would like to get myself out of my bikes and (fingers crossed) onto a Buell asap.

I am considerably older than you but now that I find clip-ons and a racing riding position difficult the XB's are ideal for me. I am in the Southend area so perhaps it will be easy to arrange. John

That said, I have an Xb12Scg, which is the shot arse version, and I love it, I find the riding position just perfect - despite being a long-legged burd! I have a hankering for an X1, but I have never sat on one, so can't comment on riding position, or performance.

In case you are not aware, Buells are split into two types - Fuellers, and Tubers. As you can probably work out, it is all about the frame...there are those, who believe that only tube framed Buells are truly Buell motorbikes, and that Fuellers (XB derivatives) are simply bastardised HD's, or some such. As long as there are Buells in the UK, the debate will continue...

Oh yes ...ummm where was I? (blonde moment). Thats it! newbie in the house....... Welcome young man ;) . Matron has about said it all except that all Buells handle like handly things. It all depends on your height and leg length if you have a dicky hip and knee. Dont rule out the Uly which depite beig the tallest and arguably a tourer. It also has track credentials and so much torque ours was nicknamed Shep ("get down boy" :hehe: ). Also if you are of the tall variety then a lightning long would be on my wish list as STTs are rarer than rocking horse poo. However if tubers float your boat the world is your oyster ;)

Well thank you all for your responses so far and the warm welcome. I like the in house rivalry between the tubers/fuellers atleast it makes things interesting!
Not sure if it will help anyone give me further advice but I am 6'1" and have a 31" in seam. I will ride through mild pain in exchange for a great bike. Just can't handle eye watering pain beginning to end. Haha.
I fell in love with "tubers" at 14/15 years old when I first saw them. But was blown away (geek at heart) by the thought of the low distributed centre of gravity of the fuel in frame design.
Love the short versions due to how aggressive they look.
So now knowing my height...and it has to be capable of being run daily...what would you suggest?

I don't mind the Ulysses but I must admit if I wanted an adventure type tourer there are plenty of options out there and I am not quite there yet I dont think. I tried a tiger 1050 round brands and it was fantastic (please nobody shout!)
It may be that my dream and reality are not very close together...but I would like to find out. And owning a Buell has always been up there along with the MV Augusta F4. So any and all help welcome.

Hi and welcome, I have a ktm525exc supermoto and a 2001 x1 both these handle fantasticly. The buell mine or any will not thankyou if you ride it like your R6, if and when you do purchase a Buell dont rush it. Ride the torque and be slow and positive with the gearchanges. Altough I dont ride my X1 everyday, it is comortable and I have toured europe on it. If you go down the super-moto avenue go for the road biased models as these will stand the test of every day usage.
