Hi,I've just bought a 2000 X1 and no doubt will be giving it a once over in the next few weeks.I've had a variety of road and race bikes over the years ranging from Nortons,Triumphs,Rickman Weslakes,Kawasakis,Suzukis and Ducatis. The idea of something different with a bit of attitude and character appeals so hope I've made a wise choice.

Welcome.
A good idea would be to pull the oil pump and check the pinion that drives the pump pinion. If it's worn, you'll have to pull the timing case and fit the later XB bronze pinion. Don't thrash it from cold coz that probably is the reason for the odd one failing. There's a 'How To' section all about this. Run the belt much slacker than the manual suggests, you can touch the swinger top and bottom with my belt, and it's never been a problem.
If you fancy buying the bike a nice present, bung an AST shock on it - possibly the best 'bolt on' you can do to a Buell :yup:

Hi and welcome, i bought my 2000 X1 just over a year ago and love it. There is quite a few upgrades that's required, i wish i had waited for 2001 model as they are all done. Do talk to Maz about it as i have loads of problems with mine at moment which do need an expert to look at! good luck and welcome again.
