Hi there .. picky up my 08 plate Ulysses XT next Saturday. It's all standard so any recommendations on tweaks to make it even better would be much appreciated.

Already decided the exhaust is first ... am considering the Sabre Engineering exhaust modifications .. any thoughts ? Alternatives ??

See you on the road !

Welcome...

You should really be thinking of a stainless exhaust, PM albert666 as he makes the finest...

Good choice - had a wonderful three years with mine :D

You need to pop to Maz for a breather mod, and you'll be needing a Free Spirits belt tensioner, and yes, speak to Albert about a zorst.

Welcome to UKBEG :yup:

Thanks .. I've read mixed things on the exhausts ... some say use a modified original so you retain the valve control thing .. is this not necessary ?

Maz ? Breather mod ? :?

No it isn't, I've got the Buell race can fitted, and the valve control cable thingy is still dangling. One day, when I can be arsed, I'll remove all the extraneous bits :P

Hi Matt the exhaust valve is just to quiet it down in the urban area
standard exhaust is mild steel & rusts , get a stainless one asap :yup:

I've hacked around several Tuber cans and Tubbs did one of his 'specials' on my 1125 (and used his secret and very good coating which is pretty rust proof) but they all rust through from the inside eventually ;) . Go with an Albert exhaust, they're they best built system I've ever seen 8-) - on anything.

breather mod for an XB
if you look inside the airbox at the base ,inside the middle of the air filter
you will see 2 rubber pipes , these are from the crankcase breather system attached to the rocker covers , they allow oily crud or engine puke into your inlet...bad idea but done for emissions

you need to fit a "Y" join then lengthen the pipes , from the rocker covers , run em along the front small frame near the oil cooler down to atmosphere or a catch can if you prefer
the 2 holes you are left with in the airbox base can be linked together with a short bit of rubber pipe

rubber pipe & "Y" join is available at most small car accessory places :yup:
