Just joined as always liked Buells but never brave enough to part from Jap bikes up to now...
Been reading a few threads and need some guidance for the cheapest / least troublesome; I love the idea of the xb's but have been reading of a few probs so maybe the tubers are a better bet for me?
Mechanically I'm up to spark plug / oil changes, chain adjustment etc and am used to Jap dependability - Suzuki Bandit 1200 is current bike.
Any advice welcome thanks. :D

Hello birdy...

and welcome to the club, you'll find that there are 2 main factions on the forum those who hate XB's and those (like me) who love them.....as for problems have had my XB9 for over 2 years and never had any problem....over 8k on the clock and running swweeeet.......so i say 'Run with your heart not your Head'..... :yup:

I know folk who wouldn't touch a Bandit, so it's pretty much personal choice, Think of it as a learning curve. The How to and Tech sections are great here, so break out the spanners lOl
Oh, and welcome.

Gone with my heart on other bikes and regretted it, hence seeking advice here.
Last thing I want is a bike that spends it's time offf the road rather than on - is there any general sentiment on which are more reliable / simpler / cheaper to buy and run :?: lOl

Read your original question again.......a 2001 X1 fits all your requirements and IMHO is the best Buell ever built to date, period :idea:

Maz;
How would I check that it's actually a 2001 XI not a 99/ 2002 etc? The year of registration isn't a proper indication on it's own?
