Thanks Jill. I am recovering - just struggling with the quickly bit. As long as it keeps getting better though, I will be happy :yup:

Got my bike today! :D

Image

It's already got an oil nipple on the output shaft, a VERY noisey exhaust, K&N filter, and some sort of remapped ECU. It has some very floppy after-market levers, can't tell yet if they're cheap or just worn.

The lacquer on the front wheel is a bit sad in places but I'm sure I can get that redone.

There's a box of bits with it, rear footrests, foam from the airbox, and an actuator that I guess is for the active exhaust that I haven't got. Is there a down side to my after-market exhaust, other than the noise? Has anyone got a standard exhaust for sale?

The whole thing needs a good clean and checking over so I'll make a start over the weekend.

All in all, quite happy with it.

I'm being well advised by Maz now, and have a standard exhaust lined up for MoT time, thanks.

I do like to tweak and adjust my bikes though, good news when you can't really go out riding at this time of year. This came in the post yesterday, from a 2011 CBR600RR, pretty and a generation on from what's on my Buell as standard.

And now it's on the bike.

It was a bit fiddly to get everything lined up, and very tight between the windscreen and the clocks but everything clears and works.

Now I just need to get the clutch sorted out. Greatly improved by taking the cheap'n'nasty short levers off the bike, and by lubricating the cable, but it needs a little more work yet.

Welcome ,and the bike looks already clean to me!

Some little oily drips from the breather hose is okay
The breather mod prevents that a mix from oil and a lot of condensation gets sucked back into the engine.

Make sure that you adjust the clutch/cable correct after you put another one on ,because it can give you big troubles later when not done the right way!

Maybe a manual for christmas is nice to!
Cheers

Hi, and thanks for the advice.

There's a length of 1/2" heater hose down the front left side of the engine with a bung in the bottom, I'm guessing this is there as some sort of "catch tank" for the oily muck that comes out of the breather. I'll have to see what comes out when I pull the bung.

Google managed to find me a PDF workshop manual on the internet, for a 2005 XB which I hope is close enough to my 2004 model. I was surprised to find it was over 600 pages!

Maz has been advising on the clutch. A new cable may be required, kinked at the clutch lever end, and burnt where it passes the front exhaust. It's not in the best of conditions.

There are a load of links to manuals at the top of the Tech Section including one for a 2004 XB12R (which has different forks to a 2005 model). PM me if they don't work...

Thanks for the info and link. I'll have a look.

I think I know the answer to the next one, but...

Should my primary chain case be full of frothy cream?
