I’ve only recently joined the forum and this is my first post so hope it turns out ok. I think I may be the youngest to own a Buell in the UK. I turn 19 next week! Yes I can’t ride it yet. Bought my mates 2008 XB12SCG off of him today. He’s had a few buells in the past and got this one last year. Jap import, only 10k miles. I couldn’t say no. admittedly I thought it was a weird bike at first but in the past year I’ve grown to like it a lot so the priority now is to get my A2 then onto final license at 21. It’s a little while to go, but the bike will be safe in the garage, with a quick spin every now and then (not from me obviously).

Pic below
Cheers all

Well done, WannabeBuell. That's going to be a tough two years!

You're probably the youngest person on here as well, by about 40 years :)

Hello and welcome. You have plenty of time to read up on all the foibles of these wonderful machines! 8-)

This may already be obvious to you and others might differ, but I try to resist temptation to just start my Buell up in the garage to hear it run statically and to blip the throttle occasionally. This can do more harm than good from cold starts and idling. These motors were made to warm up properly and be taken on a good run for a good number of miles on real roads!

When not being ridden for long periods I do switch my XB ignition on without starting the motor occasionally just to hear the fuel pump prime and to test the switches and lights before switching off and reconnecting my battery optimiser. ;)

I also put nothing but Shell V Power or Esso E5 in the tank. Some swear by Esso premium fuel as it is said to contain the least ethanol. I prefer Shell, but when left standing for longer periods I add a small shot of Harley fuel conditioner to a tank full to prevent moisture and fuel separation. Invest in quality products to keep the bike clean and protected from the dreaded damp.

Even after months of standing my Buell fires up immediately on the button! :yup:

Oh yes! ....and invest in good but discreet security devices to discourage any scumbags from trying to lift your bike. :old:
