Hey guys

Have been riding on and off since I was knee high to the pet dog and ride a Beta 450RR Enduro (both on and off road) at the moment but am looking for something I can stick the tent on the back (and the Mrs if I have to) and disappear for a week or 2.

A friend suggested an XB12XT, something I hadn't considered before but after a little looking into them I think they would quite suit us and want to get one.

In 06 I rode a Yamaha XT660 from Milton Keynes to Mongolia (another story for another day) so have some knowledge about bigger bikes but forgive me I am a little dubious about Buell. I love the look of them but the fact they no longer manufacture is a little disconcerting if I am honest, in addition I know not many were sold in the UK so that doesn't help put my mind at ease.

I like things that are a little different, as I mentioned, Beta 450RR, I drive an Alfa Spider (so maybe I'm a sucker for punishment) and the Buell looks fantastic which is appealing. I guess I am looking for some encouragement to take the plunge and convince me getting one is worth it.

Anyway, that's a bit about me and why I'm here. Hopefully someone reads this..... lol.

DC :D

Welcome to the nuthouse. The Uly is indeed a great bike for two up and luggage and we dearly miss ours. But then again it was rarely used two up. There is one in the For Sale section. Once bitten by the Buell bug you must expect full Hotel California syndrome to set in though ;)

Hi and welcome, you will find a wealth of knowledge in this community. It is second to none for valid opinions, passion and sound advice. Sometimes you have to suffer the p---take to get it mind lOl But have no doubt it is here and free  Take the plunge and buy a buell, in truth they do have their weaknesses but more than make up for it with oodles of chatacter. You should in your heart know this already. Look at the choices you have made already. :yup:

Hi DC, I'm also brand new to these bikes and have just bought an XB12XT for similar reasons as you, originally I was thinking about buying a BMW GS or an RT 1150, but ended up taking the plunge and getting this XB.

Cant give ya an honest opinion on it yet until ''her in doors'' jumps on the back and gives me her verdict, but like you I'm no newcomer to bikes and have been riding them since the late 60's, just left it so long to try these models  well ya gotta try and cram em all in haven't ya ;)
