Thanks all.

I will take up your offer MAZ. The test ride was from Stockport HD. Not far from you.

As for the Stevie Wonder, 8-) it goes back to playing the driving games on the Playstation when i was a young lad. Its just stuck with me ever since. Youve done well though, no-one seems to suss it out. "Steve 1 rider" is the usual response.

Surprisingly it always seems available when i join forums :ner:

I covered about 30,000 on the Versys in the last 2 years.
No commuting, just playing about. 1 Europe trip in 2009 and lots of 1,000 mile weekender's round Scotland/Wales & Cornwall.

Reliability is a big issue for me. If i did get one i'd be looking to try an eliminate as many known issues as soon as possible.
Dont fancy pushing it fully loaded, anywhere!

Be good to meet up with some of you if your riding the North West anytime.

Steve. :yup:

I'd have thought you'd easy get 50 with a Ully whilst touring................my 1125Cr averages 42mpg ...................best ever out of the X1 with standard gearing was something like 74mpg :D

 I must have a very hefty right wrist, either that or a sick engine :!:

Honestly, 41mpg is the best I've had, and that was back and forth to work, big open A road and a steady 80mph :?:

:maz: HELP

Hi Steve
I have had an 06 ULY from new, and quite frankly would hate to part from it, I have had all sort of metal in the past Hondas, Kwaks, few BMWs to name a few, I find all of them "break " when you use them a lot and all year, in all weathers.
I have done nearly 55K on mine. Normally I would get rid of a bike after 18 to 24 months, because you get bored don't you! normally aft say 9 months it is just a hack, an enjoyable one at that. But the ULY still puts a big grin on my face when I go out. I do about 52 miles per day (lot of mway) and will always get three full days out of it approx 160 miles as the light comes on. I have done a further 27 miles before filly up on more than on occasion, so usefull range is 190 miles. about 55-56 to the gall.
most mway work is fast! so 80 should not be a problem (tall screen necessary).
Maz maintains mine knows exactly what the bike is about, and will normally diagnose when you tell symptoms, I admit they are not cheap to maintain but in the right hands you can prevent major problems, anyway far cheaper than buying new bikes these day. Michelin road pilot 2's work for me fantastic grip in the wet, reasonable longevity. Advice? go with your heart, if you have a bit of spare dosh. Brilliant bike, goes handles and stops, beat most of the sport and supersport bikes in a handling test with performance bike. got an invite to Bruntingthorpe test track to boot.
See Maz :worthy: he is unbiassed does not sell them, it is his business "just Buells" but he will tell you black is black etc, will not lie!
Hope this helps mail me for info if you wish, or write back on here. Extra RH scoop helps keep the fan at bay, mine is pretty quiet. never had a problem selecting any gears. Would check history of the bike you are to buy, servicing etc and where.
Hope to see you on one soon
Sid
