But you may be changing the the height of the forks in the yokes!

Wasting your time....the 'clunk' is actually the damper shim stack changing direction.....they all do that sir !

I wondered why it was happening at differing points & not just when applying the brakes.

That really does explain it.

I checked the distance to your Emporium it's only 40 miles from Matlock & pretty cool roads as well.

Yep, I concur jazzbutcher, my CR does it wheeling it in and out the garage over a bump without appying the brakes but I never hear it riding lOl
I did check for roughness or excess play but found nothing and listened carefully for the source and rather than crush the head bearings, chose to ignore it.

Mine clunk trying to set the F****n sag on the front end. It's a pain, Got it trail braking into bends without trying to lift the front end & take me across the road. Springs seem really strong. I've only got 1 & 1/2 on the preload & may take it off further & the compression & rebound at standard softest & going softer still. I'm 11 1/2 stone. Still can't get the forks to use more than half of their travel with tie wraps telling me where they are moving to. Is this normal or do people think there's too much oil in them or something? I'm gonna check them anyway tomorrow anyway now I don't have to waste time doing the head gear.
Any info would be great.
