Someone help me out here ... when Boethius first appeared, I thought it was the nice lad from Southampton who joined us on the Cumbria trip a couple of years back, always stood with his multicoloured lid on his shoulder. Remember him at Yoffi's funeral, too.

Very surprised at the recent inane spoutings though, not the bloke I remember.

So, put me right, someone ....... :?

A bit quiet waiting between jobs here so back on the magic net for a few moments and somehow got drawn to this topic.

Boethius is definitly not a new guy here, boethius is i think it is fair to describe unique and very much an individual in a world that some here may not fully appreciate or totally understand.

To have a discussion with him or to understand the art work that he painted himself on his XB a few years back does make you think is he a total mad person or is he actually on another interlectual plain?

I think it could be the later.

Its like day to day life described in the style of quantum physics and explained by a Bueller. Ignore some and take in the clever bits and you could warm to the guy.

Just my open opinion, I know Boethius is not everyones cup of tea and he can appear abrupt or just openly rude and he may need or want to address this if he wants to not get barred from here but their is as he has shown with helping Torky :) the tall a good side to him.

He was one of the only Buells to show up on the love albert rd day a few years back and he did frequent the southerners thursday evening regular cafe visits where laughs were often heard.

Back to the question of costs for things, I can see from a perspective that if you were (like many here) cash restricted but still wanted to take part you really would want to know in advance to the penny how much, like he mentioned tolls (No not Trolls att) that could, if not planned to the penny be a stopper. I have been places in the past where I have had to plan to the last 2p in my pocket but did it because I wanted to be part of it, literally 20p unplanned more on a sticky bun would have not enabled me to get enough fuel to get back so can see his perspective if the case was similar.

Not defending any rudeness on his behalf if he (by the sounds of it) offended many good people on here, be it RM bands men lOl or who ever but just adding my slant on this unique guy?
Many on here have asked in the past where he dissapeared to for the past few years, maybe we are mellowing a bit and he has not changed from the Boe we knew him as???
Said enough, getting back in my box now before I get Boethised (like getting sent to Coventry, (good car/bike museum there :yup: ) but far worse . . . . lOl
Rambling over.

I agree with Mirman, but I also need to add that we are all adults here and we all need to do our own research. We cannot expect C & J to spoon feed us every single cost item so that we don't have to do our own homework. All the info *IS* out there and available. Granted, if you need help, ask, but not in such an unusual way, because that is likely to offend people.

P.S. there is lots of tolls in Denmark, Sweden and Norway, but at least the ones in Norway are free for bikes. Whether you have to pay for a toll depends entirely on which route you will take, etc. This is where the devil is all in the details, and again, we cannot expect C&J to spoon feed us this data.

And lastly; my opinion is that if I do something for charity, I give my time for free and I will cover my own costs. So any sponsorship goes to the charity. That's only fair enough. But each to their own.

Hmm.... :? I dunno
Could he be trying to be a bit Att?
Please dont take that the wrong way att.....esp after our recent dissagreement, your recent posts have had me laughing, and sometimes 'all ears' lOl
We have a great ecclectic bunch on here, yes boethias has been offensive.....
.....but then I guess so have I, att and several others.
Lets hope he's just been having an off day, tis always hard to tell without hearing tone of voice or seeing facial expression.
.....On the other hand he could just be a twat :?:
I've never met the fella (perhaps a good thing) so I'm not best qualified to pass coment.
BTW well referied Ash.

Having met Boethius at some of the old DG20 meets he comes across as a decent bloke but somewhat odd and hard to converse with on the same level (no offence meant)
Boethius, I am assuming that you have not met Ursus (Steve) as you would not wish to meet a nicer bloke. The trouble with forums etc is people can so easily get off on the wrong foot, tho I didn't think Steve had said anything to set you off. I thought it was a good explanation as to CJ's efforts and certainly not worth... :handbag:
I'd budget a few bob for such a trip but it should be a cracker. I haven't a clue as to my whereabouts at the time workwise but there's a good chance I'd be in Stavanger anyway. If so I'll post that in case it ties in with any itinerary and I could maybe give a few a tour of the newest deepsea diving vessel just out.
I'll be working as a diving supervisor on there and may be setting it up etc at the time.

Play nicely now :old:

:yt: If you're not bright enough to do the maths or the planning, you're not going to make it.
I'd have loved to have done the LEJOG trip, but I knew that my finances would not get me to the start point, let alone the rest of the trip. That's life.
Plan for the worst, hope for the best. ;)
