Doing the breather mod on my 2008 XB12XT. I want to leave underneath the airbox floor unhindered/flat as I want to fashion and heat shield/barrier/cover......so I dont want to plug the old holes in the airbox plate with a U or n piece of hose as has been suggested. Was wondering if anyone has 2 rubber grommets that would nicely seal these holes......am thinking mushroom shaped grommets for a nice looking finish when viewed from above !! Think the holes in the base plate are about 14.5mm diameter and cant see any anywhere on the web.... Ideal size is about 21mm diameter "head", a shade over 14mm diameter shaft, shaft should be about 8-10mm long Any ideas ??????? am willing to pay for them !! Cheers, Eric. |

Looked online - there is a uk grommets site that does a lot but not the right sizes. I cant use the wiring grommets as they are designed to fit thinner material and the base plate is very thick and sloped where I want to fit these...hence a mushroom grommet the ideal one. At this point I'm thinking maybe a bit of silicone sealant splodged in...or maybe a bit of plastic metal. The holes plugs might work if they're solid and can be pared down...if they're hollow then I couldnt pare them. Cheers, Eric. |

Am in the air/con game, we use 50mm wide self adhesive aluminium duct tape to reseal any foil insulation thats disturbed when were servicing, have used this to cover the whole bottom of the air box as well as covering up the hole's it also deflects heat away so the intake air would be much cooler, just need to source an AC or ducting/insulation comp locally. |

Tapered black rubber stoppers do the trick, with a zip tie around the top for good measure, to make sure they don't fall out. You really need to put something like the tubing or this sort of stopper in for a good, tight seal. |
