Is that red one on eBay still for sale? The price had been coming down to something that was quite acceptable, especially since it had the genuine Buell noisy exhaust... |

It depends, as you know, they can be an absolute money pit. Which I suppose is one of the reasons folk don't want to sell when they have a good one. Time flies, even the youngest S1 is 18 years old now. |

They are always going to be a money pit if you want them to be. There are folk on here that spend a fortune making them 'theirs' and there are those that just put fuel in the tank... I sit between the two, but the secret is getting something with all the bits on that you want (or as close as you can get). |

All bikes can be money pits really , I have wasted thousands on them over the years and you are right pash getting one someone else has done the hard work to would be ideal but they don't come up too often . What sort of cash would get a good one ? |

Mandatory new rear shock as that one is dangerous and should not be used without the SRP. Bubbling paint - permanent fix (Holtworks tank) or just new paint? Needs a billet front motor mount. First time I have seen shiny thunderstorm heads, have the standard heads just been painted black? What about all the other recalls? What about the primary chain tensioner? And the crank nut? And the later type crank seal? And the four bolt rotor? What about the oil pump drive? All isolators? All cycle part bearings? Has the clutch cable boot been cable tied (I think that's a "no"? What about gearbox bearings, ie Maz mod? Y type exhaust hanger needed. Repack muffler, reinforce the race headers against cracking.......... Tax disk is 15 years old, has it been ridden lately? New derby cover needed. Refurbish all brake parts (18 years old now). And on and on...................... Not bad at GBP 3.5k, I guess. What do you reckon all done, another GBP 3.5k? |
