I've seen a complete assembly on e-bay, but that seems a bit OTT. 2 It's too loud, 104 Db, got to get it down to 95. Question - I guess it's a race can, can you get Db killers for these, or do I need a std silencer to get through the test? 3 They want a "wheel guard" , which I guess would be a hugger. It's got the X1 swing arm, will the X1 hugger still fit on an s1? 4 Needs a red reflector on the back, I think I can work that one out myself. Apart from that, it felt great to actually ride it. The DRZ400 now feels distinctly underpowered. |

Or a different swinger. Have you joined Buells Down Under? Someone there may be close to help. |

I have joined Buells Downunder, and also Buellers Downunder, some sort of rift has gone on. Anyway, they are both pretty quiet in general, and most posters are on the East Coast. Besides, I always ask stupid questions on here first, because you know the answers to most of them ![]() |

Hi, " 2 It's too loud, 104 Db, got to get it down to 95". old school answer - If all you need to do is make it quieter - comedy answer is to stuff the end can with steel wool, it will quieten it down long enough for the test and burn off in a 100 miles or so (don't even need to strip the can to get it out) ![]() |

What I meant was, if they need to do an emissions test, they will want to stick a probe up the exhaust, which they won't be able to do if it's crammed full of wire wool... ![]() In response to how much you need to repack, a 'standard' pack for one silencer will suffice, it's a small can compared to most bikes. You just need to wrap the 'blanket' around the perforated pipe (and secure it with masking tape) until it's a sliding fit into the can, it's not meant to be rammed solid. HTH |
