There are a couple for sale on ebay. But be careful. You could be buying a minefield.Check whatever you buy has all the later upgrades. I.E Later crank seal, later primary chain tensioner, later rear isolators, billet front engine mount. Later 9 bobbin brake disc or ebc prolite disc. This is a minimum. Then there are mods that help it run better like the mikuni HSR42 and race headers, then handling mods like Ast rear shock and X1 or metmachex swing arm and finally the cosmetics. Plastic tanks and ethanol based fuel causes havoc with the paint work. Hope i've not put you off. Thankfully my white lightning has all the above and more and i could look at it all day long, its the best looking bike ever made :yup:

Most owners keep them forever. Divorce , tax bills and losing the ability to ride are the reasons I have been given when buying them. I`m looking at a neglected one next week , it comes with a box of dismantled bits , but is low mileage and a 98. They will think it`s worth more than it is though. Don`t be put off by a tatty 16 yr old bike as they are becoming harder to find and if I don`t buy this one it`s possible it will get broken up to realise it`s value. The White Lightnings and Lightning "strikes" are the more expensive versions, and if I was looking for my first one it would be one of those and pay the extra for a good one, if you can find it.

If you get buried, wouldn't it be better to have your arse stuck out of the ground, so that visitors could park their bikes , or at least bicycles?

No......It's only a small arse. Though my mate (since school) says he's coming digging me up the same night for that bike. (bastid) :run: :run: :run:

If you want a tube frame Buell, you are already following your heart not your head. By all means look for the "upgrades" but do not let them be paramount in your choice, they can all be fixed. I'd been struck by the S1 when I first saw it in Bike magazine in the 90's but it was never a sensible choice so left it alone. Buy the S1 that clicks with you and a nice little Zephyr/XJR/Fazer, etc for cheap reliability when the Buell is not playing ball.

He advised me the same and I now have both and he was right the S1 just feels right the X1 isn't quite the same. The S1 is the more iconic one as well.
