Post subject: X1 tail tidy / undertray

i was considering buying one of these undertrays:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carbon-Fiber-Undertray-Under-tail-for-Buell-X1-/321199036319

its carbon effect, fibreglass rather than proper carbon, not that i have any objection to that as im not a huge fan of carbon anyway.

has anyone used this chinese outfit and have any opinions ? or indeed, do you have one of these trays sitting unused and unloved in your shed ?

I had one on an X1 that the tyre wore through.

I bought one and if took Maz and me about 3 hours to fit it, there are no cut outs for the indicators and if doesn't shape to take them anyway. There are no brackets to attach to the seat rail, all in all a nightmare but it didn't look to bad when it was on.
I've taken it off now as you can't use the ventura luggage system with them on.

thanks for info chaps.

i figured a bit of customising would be required; not sure if its worth the effort especially since i would quite like to put a ventura rack/grab rail on.

might be worth an experiment if one comes up at the right price.

I use an home made aluminium undertray made out of flat sheet with a couple of notches cut out to allow the ventura clamps to fit on . The only thing to watch whatever you fit is that if you don't have the concave section like the original the tyre will hit the undertray if the suspension bottoms out. Mine has done a couple of times and worn through the top of the hugger.
