The PO has chopped up the current air box lid so there's a lot of popping on deceleration.

Anyone got a non chopped one for sale so I can quieten it down a bit?

IIRC the later inner airbox lid was pretty opened up as standard ...

Where in the 'UK' are you? I have an original one off my 2003 which I swapped for the later model one with cut outs. You could swap it for a while and see if you get the desired effect, before shelling out for one.

Thanks guys.

Am in the South East.

I didn't realise the boxes were so open as standard.

Are they the same throughout all models (2003 onwards, XB9 and XB12)?

Edit: Why couldn't I find that one in my searches!

The air box cover has no holes up to 06 and breathed through a snorkel in the base plate that passed through the frame.

06 onwards breathes through the top cover as the hole was sealed up.

This is not the key to solving your popping, you will need to either adjust the fuelling on the over run or adjust the ignition timing.

Do a search, there are plenty of posts on the subject, this is the one most relevant to you:
