Anyone selling a set of Dymags for an M2/X1/etc (or any tuber)?

Prefer standard wheel & rim sizes:
- i.e. 17" * 3.5" front & 17" * 5.0" rear

but would consider wider rear (5.5" or even 6.0") or other makes provided they are lighter than the standard Marchesinis.

Ideally they'll have cush drive rubbers in the rear hub (I'm running chain final drive) and the front will accept the standard brake disc mountings.

Chico

P.S. Not interested in polished PM wheels - looking for something much lighter.

Hey gusm2 I'd make you an offer for your hens teeth but it looks like Pash has come up with a better idea.... lOl

I've asked PDQ for a quote on their TT3 wheels, but I'm just being bone idle 'cos I only live 30 miles from their shop - so I'll take a run over there tomorrow and ask them directly. I'm guessing around £1800+VAT but you can get 20% discount [http://www.dymag.com/?q=news] through Ride magazine, whatever that is!! (Something for the sexually-active perhaps?).

I've converted mine to chain drive (bike that is - not my sexually-active thing), so I might need a cush drive.

The badweatherbikers "sale" has been going on forever! It's the "I've got something lovely. Here's a picture. Want it? Can't have it..." school of retail. They seem to be somewhere around $1500 (hard to tell as it seems to be a secret). Stuff from the U S of A ends up costing slightly more in pounds than it did in dollars by the time it clears Customs, so I'll see what PDQ say before pitching in (but thanks for the info Pash).

Pash - I'm also informed (by Ash) that you might have or know of a good set of yolks to fit the S1 upside-downers I just bought from him? Care to comment?

No sorry, no knowledge of whereabouts of yokes for S1/S3/X1. I don't recall ever seeing any for sale either... :(

Maz, now that's an idea - hadn't considered that.

Sounds like the originals are getting harder to find - Ash suggested Tubbs or Andy (Spondon).

The cost will be the deciding factor. I know these are ugly but I feel strangely drawn to them - is it my medication?

Never accuse me of having too much taste....

Major downside is the yokes are so thick there's no room for any suspension movement! lOl

If you are getting a set of yokes made up, why not put a whole GSXR front end on? You can have a lighter front wheel, radial calipers etc. And if you still want a Dymag, I am sure you will find it easier to get one for a GSXR...

Pash, my ship has already sailed....

I've bought the upside-down S1 forks with Maxton internals (ex Teambegger) from Ash so will be using them. I'm also running twin 340mm Galfer Wavy rotors and two 6-pot Nissins at the front (er, yes, I like to brake a bit late!) so don't need any more stopping power.

But everything you say makes perfect sense - I really must remember to think before maneuvering.

As for the extra weight daywalker, Yep, that's true. But having loaded up the unsprung weight of the front end (2 Wavys added 1.1kg over a single Buell disc; caliper another 0.96kg; with bracket/brake pads/etc the additional weight is 2.721kg) I'm keen to reduce it again. The front Dymag is 3.5lb/1.59kg lighter than the stock Marchesini - so the front end would only be 1.131kg heavier than it started. As for the "thug" yokes, you're right, only an idiot would fit them. ;)

Just out of interest, the twin disc front-end is stunning! I fitted/made it a few years back and had to adjust my riding style to compensate - two-finger braking is a bit much and if you were to ever grab a handful it'd spit you off the front.

I'm running standard Buell pads - after trying many others these gave the best results (N.B. Such big discs when doubled then used in non-race conditions hardly ever get warm - hence the unexpected pad choice).

I feel sure the Dymags will be available for sale soon as the bike has been sold for the buy it now. I expect it will be asset stripped for the goodies and then moved on.
