You can make the stainless pipe from an X1 fit. All you need to do is cut it and make a joint behind the lower frame rail (a very easy job for a welder) and then it'll fit. This looks much neater than the mild steel rusty job that goes over the frame. You'll not be needing the heat guard anymore and these fetch a good price on Ebay etc :yup:

I've recently chopped up an original M2 pipe because I wanted a bend out of it for a header I'm making for another bike :P

I've never had anything to do with a 'Wideline' framed M2, but I'd imagine the frame dimensions in the area relevent to this discussion, are the same :P

I'm pretty sure they're not. IIRC one of the 98 header tubes goes the other side of the frame to the the later model. I don't think the headers are interchangeable.

You really want ones from an S1 cos the M2 ones were mild steel IIRC but the S1 and S1W ones were stainless.

I am guessing you want 2" outlet.

Good news is that I think I have a set in the garage (which I bought when I was concerned the S1 would not get through the MOT). Let me know if you are interested and I will dig them out to see what kind of condition they are in.

:yt:

That is already more than i'd want to pay for a scabby mild steel header anyway ............. money would be better spent put towards a new set made by Albert if there is a problem getting second hand stainless ones .

Kin'ell. If I thought that folk were asking that kind of money for mild steel pipes, I'd have thought twice about sticking mine through the bandsaw  lOl

At that price I need to dig out my set from the loft. Sure they were looking better than that last time I looked

Someone made it originally and it can be made again, as in Alberts products. Stuff gets superseded, how many OEM oil pump drive gears are now gathering dust along with crappy gasket sets and old isolators. I have a few bits for when I need them, If I can afford it I buy two of things as I have to use mail order. Not much fun having a bike that`s broken and waiting for bits so I don`t mind helping out others as I have been helped with Buell parts from people on here . :sun:
