The machine is a 2007 firebolt, purchased new in 2008. The engine has now failed twice since that time. It was completely rebuilt under warranty in 2009 and is consigned to scrap now again. Basically it appears to be an oil starvation issue and has manifested itself this time in the cam chest area. The bushes set into the crank case have all come loose and have worn the crank case seats oval. Major scarring and pitting on the gears also. I'm gutted and Harley have been unpleasant to deal with,to say the least. The machine is immaculate in every other way so hoping to source an engine. What makes the situation most annoying is that the bike was serviced with new oil and filter every 2000 miles or so but there ya go... :(
