If anybody has any S3T pannier bits they don't want - I am need of some.

The top latch pulls have given up the ghost.

Failing which I'll have to make some in metal.

Sold my panniers a while back but the catches on them were aftermarket anyway. All i have left is mounting frame etc.

Try some of the wire and plastic 'over centre' catches that are used ski boots or hard plastic rifle cases.

badweb, in the old school section, including the section for S2's, has some very nice solutions for latches, including some extra-secure ones (after having some S2 owners' cases fly open on the motorway  ). http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/47623/559126.html

A thread about hte updates to the S3T bag latch parts - surely made now of Unobtanium, but you never know:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/47623/380039.html

Al Lighton (ASB owner)'s "S3T saddlebag repair" thread is also useful, if the bags themselves need some reinforcing:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/34032.html

You can search threads in Old School section - I got these from "S2 bag latch" or "S3 bag latch."

HTH.

My guess is that it's also a rare form of aforesaid material - as it was such cruddy quality that even the Chinese have refused to use it.

As luck would have it - It seems a Weaver sight rail adapts readily. And again, as luck would have it - I have some Russian rail stock sat idle. Maybe we can do a "how To" from the experience :yup:

One tries - but it's getting harder to be innovative.
