Hi, I'm new on here and after stirring up the age old debate on the welcome section, I'll abandon that thread and start a wanted thread instead. Looks like the XB9s I was going for has fallen through, so I'm open to whatever comes up that appeals.

s1, X1, XB9/12s
I want the lightning/short tail and mechanically sound.

Cosmetics are less of a concern as is colour.

Cash ready to go, however I'd have to visit any potential bikes then ride down to ferry, or ship over, so location will be a nightmare where ever it is! Therefore location doesn't really matter either.

Many thanks

Well there is this viewtopic.php?f=10&t=19301 and Robs was selling this not too long ago http://s485.photobucket.com/user/robsth ... _.jpg.html based at shoreham on sea. It was on ebay not sure if it sold without checking. Both S1's the best looking buell they ever made ;)

Thanks for the heads up Dave, had a look at those, lovely bikes, but both out of my price range.

I'd like to find something that starts with a 2 or 3???
I realism it's not going to be perfect, but that's all I got!

So, I've had some offers of some lovely bikes, and spoken to lots of nice people full of advice... Been round in circles to what I want.

My location means that it is not possible to view bikes before I commit... This means I've missed a couple of beauties and hesitating on a couple that could well be just right!

Last night I had a message about about a local buell for sale, there are not many here so for one to come up for sale locally saves a lot of travel and transport. It also means I can ride it before I buy (not that I know what to look for?)

I have 2 concerns with it now

1. It is a xb9r, which I would want to put straight bars on, try to adapt the lights/clocks/fairing etc, and stick an s rear end on. I realize there are wiring issues with the conversion, and it would be a lot easier to just buy an s to begin with but my location is my justification... What do you guys think?

2. We have no HD garage here, and no computer to deal with electrical issues, problems will cost a lot more to fix as it'll have to be sent off island. This obviously applies to me for all Buells! How common are electrical faults? I know the common issues with the xb and these are fixable without hookin it up to the computer?

It's a 2007 model, is there anything specific to look for with this model and is it still interchangeable with an older s model? Or have things changed? I can't see any obvious differences between the 2007 and 2003's.

Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Just bear in mind I want a project, I can handle fabrication and cosmetic, but don't want to be rebuilding engines!
Also, what sort of value would a 2007xb9r have?

Cheers dave

i had an XB9R

i put an LSL top yoke on it
then XBS pegs as they are an inch lower
XBR has most of the electrical gubbins behind the fairing
XBS has most of it stashed inside the tail unit

the 9 is a wee bit more revy, the 12 is a wee bit more torquey

Did you put a s fairing on? Did you have to change loom or did you manage to rearrange it?

i kept the fairing on mine with Renthal bars
i found if you put some small dia. washers (m5-ish cant remember ) :old:
on the mirror stalk between the fairing plastic & the fairing support frame , it gave good enough clearance for the bars , saved butchering the plastic fairing & screen

i never put the XBS tail unit on mine
however my mate Tug did his the other way , he put an XBR tail on to an XBS , which is a bit more agro
never needed to change looms , just did a bit of rearranging inside the tail area

my memory is a bit rusty TBH...
have a search on the forum :yup: as its all been done before :sun:

the XB were fairly interchangeable , BUT there are some model year differences , IIRC the early ones had bigger dia. exhaust headers as an example..good luck :yup:

It looked even worse on the x1 and made the bike ride horrible, but there's an arse for every seat :couch:
