im reluctlantly selling my sling shot a completely original example, all gunuine panels and paintwork red and black which is quite rare, it also has the genuine solo seat cowl as well as the rear seat, it even has std indicators fitted and the rear fender has not been hacked up as most bikes do, its a 1988 bike jap spec imported into the uk, has all the history dating back to import, its had a nexus system (which was designed as a stock replacment) fitted as the stock probably rotted out, and has a set of piper filters. has new tyres dunlop sportmax less than 500 miles ago and fork seals replaced too, this ia a good clean example of a bike thats over 20 years old, it does has the odd scratch here and there a small crack on the left hand rear seat pannel where the fixing on point is and the panel behind the seat the sticker has faded but this comes off when the solo seat is on, but nothing serious and il stick 12 month mot on upon sale too :)

yh lot of neat little touches i found its somewhere between a uk 88 and uk 89 but with lots of little extras bigger carbs 38mm as opposed to the 36 all uks had tidy indicators tht dont stick out ten miles it still even has the std full size number plate tht was fitted from import with bla bla importeds details on the bottom :) has a few scratches her and there but it is twenty plus years old and stilll brings a smile to my face with the 2 stroke like powerband acceleration (sling shot) pull back wait 4 ia and whooooo hoooo your off

Has anyone read this months Bike mag yet ... ?

There is a rather good supplement magazine on the history of the GSXR from its inception right through to the current one with interviews from the chap who designed it and the test riders etc .... its a good read

really.....wow l
ike i sed i dont really hav emuch idea what its worth i guess its more what its worth to some one else and what their willing to pay but 4 a 22 year old bike shes faired well the odd scratch and one crack but other than tht a genuine example :) lil bit faded but its not like its gonna be show room condition i was amazed when i got it when it had the std indicators the lot even origional paint work and pannels and even the seat hump

As long as the bike is fairly standard and not butchered, I think GM's valuation is pretty realistic.

yh its all original apart from a nexus system, im guessing the original one had rusted as they were only mild steel and they were designed as a replacment and the piper cross pod filters, which i fitted when after i had it serviced and mot'd last year as the k&n's were collapsing

thanks for the guidance guys

Stick it on old skool suzuki. Oh wait you can't you need a 50 post count before you can put stuff in the for sale.

Just be cheeky and join then ask what its worth in the oil cooled section if it really is rare etc they will PM you. Don't take the first offer wait a week.Plus with the 25 year thing going on got to be worth more.

I think the jap market ones are limited though?

Post subject:  Re: gsxr 750 slingshot

il give it a go and c what happens it is limited electronically on the speedo needle to 180km or summat stupid but the clocks are in km and it has a km converter fitted tween the cable and speedo so the speedo never reaches 180km or what ever it was as it now reads mph

Dare I suggest it's a £1000 - £1200 Jap import with a non standard exhaust, a few scratches and a cracked panel.
Had one back in the early 90s, good lookers but not great on high speed long sweepers, over 110 ish mph a rather unsettling weave would appear.
